The Sussexes are probably also very jet lagged. Plus the baby. MM’s constant smiling is so she doesn’t get a photo looking miserable. No bitchy resting face for her, Harry can provide enough of that for lots of photos. They’ve had a very painful week, I imagine. Mostly self inflicted but not easy.

beanaseireann · 09/03/2020 17:55

Kudos to Edward. He played a blinder for the Queen being so polite and friendly.

HarryDaylight · 09/03/2020 17:58

I thought that Harry should have stood up, like Edward, for the Royal women arriving. It's old fashioned courtesy. Instead he sat their like a sulky teenager. He really should know better on such an important day.

Winterlife · 09/03/2020 18:00

Oy! Fingers faster than my mind on mobile - barrage, not barage.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 18:00

How'd you guess spoke? Pretty obvious it's some along those lines.

In the style stakes it is 1. Camilla 2. Sophie 3. Queenie 4. Meghan 5. Kate.

I feel the cape was off and the dress was a bit too high fashion but I felt Kate should have more effort. In fact Kate seemed off to me today. In my mind I'm wondering if it's just possibly morning sickness

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 18:01

*something.

LilyMumsnet · 09/03/2020 18:02

Hi all

We're nipping in because we've got a few words to say about the long-running Meghan threads (we've just deleted a handful of 'not in the spirit' posts on this thread).

Above all, Mumsnet is a parenting site and our mission is to make parents lives easier. That's parents everywhere, including Meghan.

Posts with little context, designed to attack looks, personality or even parenting, are likely to be deleted. They are simply not in the spirit of the site, and not what Mumsnet is about.

We're all just trying to do our best and lets face it, parenting isn't easy. We need a bit of peace, love and respect on these threads if we're to continue hosting them. Imagine being on the receiving end of posts before sharing them - that's an easy way to evaluate whether or not it'll go down well.

We're happy for people in the public eye to be discussed, but if it becomes a campaign designed to belittle and attack every single thing about a person, famous or not, then we're not going to be able to stand by that.

Please do bear this in mind going forward.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 09/03/2020 18:02

I have a friend who always stands up whenever ladies arrive & leave or get up. We play games at dinner by going solo to the loo!

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 18:02

so she doesn’t get a photo looking miserable

You mean like the car photo that’s now everywhere? Grin

You win some (umbrella)
You lose some (car)

Yes Harry should have stood up

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 18:06

I resent the implication that these threads are a campaign designed for any such thing @LilyMumsnet

HarryDaylight · 09/03/2020 18:08

My brothers and DH all stand up for a woman entering a room TiaraPlease I think it's charming. Harry must have stayed seated deliberately.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 09/03/2020 18:14

I don’t disagree Harry. Sadly dh is as well trained. I’ve given up Blush

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 09/03/2020 18:14

Isn’t not is. Autocorrect

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 18:16

@LilyMumsnet

Handful of posts?
I can see you deleted two around the time of your post

I agree with Catherine it’s not a campaign

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/03/2020 18:21

@LilyMumsnet and yet you are perfectly happy to let posters on the Style & Beauty thread rip into Kate for her weight and her literal dressing.

TryMeAgain · 09/03/2020 18:22

There is no such campaign. I resent the tone of the MNHQ post. Aren’t we allowed to discuss our opinion on the Royals or are we only allowed to fawn over them on here now!? This sort of thing makes me sick. If we show a different opinion we’re racist or not supporting a fellow mum. What BS. She’s a public figure using public money we can comment on the appropriateness or otherwise of her attire at a public event.

OhMargo · 09/03/2020 18:23

MM, was she having a dig at K re her Green outfit in Dublin? I LOL'd.

All gorgeous anyway. But what the heck is it with double breasted coats with K? I mean they fit the picture and all that, but honestly so bloody boring.

Back to Corona V for me now. Much more personally problematic.

SenecaFallsRedux · 09/03/2020 18:23

Well done, MNHQ.

TryMeAgain · 09/03/2020 18:24

Exactly - Kate we have feee reign to criticisise her weight her clothing the clothes she chooses for her children. That’s all okay apparently. Double standards MN

Butterymuffin · 09/03/2020 18:25

Imagine being on the receiving end of posts before sharing them - that's an easy way to evaluate whether or not it'll go down well.

Is this a rule that also applies to AIBU? Did it apply to the Caroline Flack threads that proliferated around the time of her being charged with assault? This looks like a very different expectation to the one that governs much of the rest of the Talk boards, while being presented as bringing this thread in line with the other threads - where, apparently, the prevailing norm is to speak generously of others at all times.

Winterlife · 09/03/2020 18:25

MM, was she having a dig at K re her Green outfit in Dublin? I LOL'd.

I suspect her dresses were all chosen long before MM arrived in the UK.

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 18:27

What about the campaign from posters who want these threads shut down and spend a lot of time discussing them?

They got a lukewarm dressing down from Michael Mumsnet earlier

They threw dummies out of pram and did whataboutery

FazakAli · 09/03/2020 18:29

coconutpie
Also MM wearing a cape to the service which also is their last engagement as senior royals? A cape ... seriously?

It's SuperMegs to the rescue obviously! Swooping down & rescuing little old Harry from the clutches of the oppressive RF.

TryMeAgain · 09/03/2020 18:29

If I met M in person I wouldn’t say to her I thought her green cape was inappropriate. But I’m not saying that to her I’m saying that about a public figure in a public forum! That’s normal and NOT the same as slagging someone off to their face. Every public figure gets commented on. Here’s an idea they shouldn’t read threats and social media. Why would they?? Life you live and stop reading everything written about yourself. This is what causes all these “issues”. (And I mean comments around clothing conduct attitude etc)

TryMeAgain · 09/03/2020 18:31

Threads. They shouldn’t read threads. Ther shouldn’t be threats ffs Blush
