I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

Oh I get the kudos, fizzylimes , and don't doubt they are highly employable. Still think it's a really shitty thing to do.

FizzyLimes · 19/02/2020 18:28

@Words
I agree 100% that the Sussexes have treated their team appallingly.
I was just trying to be positive about their future career opportunities....

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 19/02/2020 18:29

Well seeing as they've been relying on their old stock of engagements to post on their instagram and remind everyone how Royal they are, some new engagements should revive things a bit, plus provide a bit of much needed kudos and leverage with their brand.

And if they are thrifty and discreet about it, they can gradually keep dropping the pictures till this time next year. A little can go a long way.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 18:34

There hasn't been any more walking in the woods photos or visiting charity ones either. That seems to have been knocked on the head.

Words · 19/02/2020 18:35

Indeed Annie.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 18:36

I meant to say they haven't got any photos of current engagements to put on Instagram so perhaps they will use the last RF ones when they do these events and drag them out.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 19/02/2020 18:36

Funny that it all stopped once Harry arrived back in Canada....

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 19/02/2020 18:38

Yes Annie. But it's just coincidence of course.

The truth is that there are no more wooded walk pics because the press paps were cowed by their wrathful threats to sue....

annielouise · 19/02/2020 18:38

That walk in the woods was so staged.

Alsohuman · 19/02/2020 18:38

As a bit of a pathetic equivalent - I'm in PR, DD2 is going into the same industry. Everyone 'thinks' it is a glamorous job, and it's so so not. There are glamorous bits for sure, but most of it is just a job like any other, and there's a fuck of a lot of boring stuff, shifting boxes of product, being nice to people you don't necessarily want to be nice to

Try working in public sector comms - zero glamour! My dream was always to go to an event and not have to lug in displays and put them up myself. In over 30 years it never happened! At one point my salary was nearly six figures and I was still schlepping those fucking stands about!

annielouise · 19/02/2020 18:40

It just made M look like a loose cannon, including to her husband. Why would she set that up?!

Words · 19/02/2020 18:41

Hahaha also
That's me. Minus the near six figure salary though, and 20 odd years in...

yolofish · 19/02/2020 18:43

Their comms team in the UK will probably walk into other jobs easy-peasy. I used to work with someone who became Diana's comms advisor - didnt last long but certainly didnt hurt her career. Also the PA team, again - good experience, looks good on the CV.

No one is going to do anything other than read through the lines about those at the top.

But the 'little people' to coin a phrase may find it much harder.

Words · 19/02/2020 18:43

And I still haven't got the knack of those fucking banner stands that hook over at the top.

Always a traumatic flashback to putting the tent up at Guides in c 1982.

Alsohuman · 19/02/2020 18:44

Sorry @Words, can you tell I’m still bitter? The best part of retirement is never having to put up another stand!

FizzyLimes · 19/02/2020 18:44

Funny that it all stopped once Harry arrived back in Canada....
Yes, I thought that...

Some more details of the engagements
news.sky.com/story/harry-and-meghan-to-officially-end-royal-duties-from-31-march-11937959

Most of them seem quite military; the Endeavour fund and the Mountbatten music festival. The latter is for the Marines; so that will probably be Harry’s last engagement as captain general.
It’s the weekend before the commonwealth day service, so perhaps Meghan will attend that.
I don’t see them bringing Archie over, so Meghan will probably only stay for a few days like before.

The other engagements like, the Marathon, Invictus in the Netherlands, and then potentially Princess Beatrice’s wedding are each about a fortnight apart. Will Harry fly backwards and forwards across the Atlantic or will he stay in Frogmore for a month....?

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 19/02/2020 18:44

It was so staged Annie!!

From the BBC website quoting BNC breakfast interview:

Its news editor, Scott Fee, says he spoke to the photographer responsible who defended it, saying it was taken on public property.

He told BBC Breakfast: "That's [the photographer's] version. He said Meghan didn't hide from the shot, she gave me a smile, she didn't prevent it from happening - those are his words. If that's how it played out - it's hard to say."

yolofish · 19/02/2020 18:45

At one point my salary was nearly six figures and I was still schlepping those fucking stands about!

So bloody true! (although minus the six fig sal for me, left the industry too early to be freelance...)

DD is at least truly understanding about the sheer heftiness of bits of the job, although she enjoyed the event we did when she was 10 and her job was to fill up the water bowls for the dogs attending.

Alsohuman · 19/02/2020 18:46

I’m not tall enough to do them upright. I used to do the hooks flat on the floor and then very gently lift them up.

Words · 19/02/2020 18:46

yolo More please!
I'm Grinchly from the EP threads btw.
About to change back...

Words · 19/02/2020 18:49

also I did that once, but managed to stand on it and tear it off completely from the top metal thing. Fortunately there was another one.
Hmmm...
Maybe there's a reason re this six figure salary business?

yolofish · 19/02/2020 18:49

Bloody banners and merch... donkey's years ago, a particular chocolate brand launched a new ad campaign about 'silk'. I spent about 4 hours of my life stapling chocolate brown silk to the walls of some trendy venue while the client looked up my skirt.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 18:50

By all accounts they're out hiking all the time, although who knows, but funny there haven't been any other shots, very clear ones such as the walk in the woods ones. I think there was a tip-off in an attempt to stay relevant and in the news.

FizzyLimes · 19/02/2020 18:52

As soon as Harry is overseas, there will be more pap shots of Meghan.
He’s got lots of engagements in the spring / summer

Alsohuman · 19/02/2020 18:55

Maybe there's a reason re this six figure salary business?

No, right place and time. It certainly wasn’t for my stand erecting talents! My forte was crisis media relations, I loved it and was very effective, with that sixth sense about which way the wind was going to blow. I love having my back against the wall.
