Watched ten minutes of this, what a horrible thing to do, your dad actually doing that to you.

Poor woman.

OP posts:

I agree but really, do we need another M&H thread?

Lottapianos · 22/01/2020 21:33

Hes clearly a total disgrace, but the media need to stop shoving cameras and microphones in front of him and giving him the attention he craves. Not watching the doc. Have experience of family estrangement myself and I feel dreadful for that poor woman

usingname · 22/01/2020 22:41

This is a very hurt man who has been ghosted by his daughter. Shame on you Meghan

misspiggy19 · 22/01/2020 22:43

Both the father and sister are utter trash. I feel sorry for Meghan

Menstrualcycledisplayteam · 22/01/2020 22:45

I feel sorry for her too; given everything we've seen of him, it is no wonder she's made the decision to cut them off. He's bloody awful.

MumofTinies · 22/01/2020 22:50

I can't imagine ever doing this to either of my DSs, even if they ghosted me. So I suspect Meghan is NC with him for a very good reason. I really feel for her, the vitriol towards her really needs to stop.

Notthebloodygym · 22/01/2020 22:51

Hideous man.

BBInSleepsCounting · 22/01/2020 22:52

I agree, OP, and with 4/5 posters so far.

People don't do this to their parents without damn good reasons

usingname · 22/01/2020 23:03

Hedgehodgkins Some people are awful to their parents. I feel sorry for the man. He seems to have tried his best and admitted his mistakes. He doesn't deserve this.

AdoraBell · 22/01/2020 23:09

Yes, and that’s why I will never watch it. I won’t add to the ratings. Hopefully it doesn’t get a huge audience.

KeepCookingWithGas · 22/01/2020 23:17

Some people do "ghost" their parents, unbelievable as it seems.

(Maybe I will ask my sibling at the next and final funeral why!)

It is sad to do a programme for money but he will justify by thinking he has bills to pay and he's not got many choices at his age.

(Tbh I would want to look after my parents however annoying IF they'd supported me growing up. Different if they didn't actually parent at all.)

Thomas Markle did support Meghan growing up. He and Doria split up when Meghan was 6 and yet when she was 11 she asked to live with him.

The documentary shows he has a huge amount of photos and videos of Meghan, they spent days fishing together, she went horse riding and he was very involved at her dramatic society where he sorted out the lighting and made scenery to make the plays look better for her. He used his lottery win to send her to a great private school and paid for her college education. He guided her as to what to say in videos she recorded of herself (presumably for other family members). He took her along to his work.

He supported to to the extent that in a public speech she praised him and said the world needed more people in it like her dad.

All of this is evidenced by videos in the documentary.

He didn't do the programme purely for money. He did it because he has been villified in the press, ignored by his daughter and son-in-law and is very hurt by his treatment. He wanted to clear his name.

What, are you operating on the basis of 'ignorance is bliss'? It isn't. Knowledge is power.
You shouldn't condemn someone from trash you read about them in the newspapers. Judge for yourself from the horse's mouth if you are brave enough to be open-minded.

stairway · 23/01/2020 02:21

The situation is just all a bit sad really. We have just one short life and we hurt the people we live/ love us the most. This applies to both of them. He doesn’t have long left. I hope she can forgive.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/01/2020 02:27

He wanted to clear his name.

He could try and do that without taking money.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 23/01/2020 02:48

NotEveryThing are you the ugly, jealous bitter, spiteful old troll of a half sister that keeps popping up ?? 😂😂😂

BBInSleepsCounting · 23/01/2020 03:01

I think the viewing figures will reflect the number of people who read and believe the gutter press tabloids, especially the Fail.

Sarcelle · 23/01/2020 03:06

I didn't watch but saw a headline of one of his comments saying they owe him, and he means money. He sees her as a money maker. This is what that is all about. That's why he took money off of photographers in the first place which started the whole mess. I don't feel sorry for him one bit. He seems a bit trashy and out of kilter with the gracious image she is trying to portray. Meghan gives the impression of elegance and breeding but it is a good example of upward social mobility, she comes from quite trashy stock.

I really don't know what to think about Meghan anymore. When she first spoke at the engagement interview, I thought, wow, what a classy woman, eloquent and confident. And on her wedding day she was cool to the point of looking emotionless. I think she is a better actress than I imagined. She is not responsible for her family's actions but she has done quite a few hard nosed and questionable things herself.

That shot of her smiling in the park, wrestling with a baby and dogs has finally confirmed it for me. She is smiling directly at the camera in what looks like a smug triumphant way, like she has won. There was no need for her to be out and about like that, it was a contrived set up. Who walks about beaming like that. She is clearly trying to upstage the other royal activities, the announcement of her pregnancy timing, the recent Instagram photos taken 2 weeks ago just when Kate is doing her visits etc. Harry may want a quieter life, but she doesn't and she and her family will see to that. This saga will run and run.

This relationship has damaged the royal family. It is like the Diana later years with the Bashir interview and her manipulation of the media, plus the aftermath of her tragic death. The family were back on an even keel and the queen has been very much revered after all of that, it took a while. Her reprobate son Andrew (that's gone quiet, bet he is glad focus has shifted) and this twosome have devalued their brand. And now the media are shining a light on all of the minor royals grubby commercial deals advertising all manner of stuff because of Harry's hustling and Meghan's pitching, it really does make you wonder, why the bloody hell is this dysfunctional family held in such high regard. (I am not holding much hope for the guy Beatrice is marrying, something off about him.....)

So, I do think Meghan's father has behaved appallingly, but he is in good company.

Jameelia · 23/01/2020 03:11

No matter how much I hurt my father ( and I have with some of my decisions, not on purpose but- hindsight is 20/20), he would never sell me to the highest bidder like that, my father would rather starve than do that

Jameelia · 23/01/2020 03:16

@Sarcelle

Beatrice was the OW, he hot with her while with his ex and child's mother, then ended it abruptly. She told friends but had has shown amazing restraint as she doesn't need his money so can spill all the drama but I suspect she does not want to paint her son's father in a bad light. He is a social climber and Beatrice should be ashamed

Angelw · 23/01/2020 03:38

Social mobility right there in action! Meghan’s dad is so common I don’t blame her for ghosting him. Him and his lot will bring her down and honestly speaking if you are married to a prince Crown Smile you don’t need that. Good riddance
I didn’t watch the documentary but heard clips on radio, he didn’t sound well, people need to stop and think what this Media attention is doing to this poor old manShock

BBInSleepsCounting · 23/01/2020 03:45

trashy stock

Really? What a 'trashy' expression.

But for the record, Meghan's mother Doria Ragland seems to me to be rather a classy lady.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 23/01/2020 04:18

NotEveryThing are you the ugly, jealous bitter, spiteful old troll of a half sister that keeps popping up ?? 😂😂😂
Nope. Not unless I've lost my looks, turned into a green-eyed monster, changed my nationality, changed my name and have become so disabled by MS that I need a wheelchair without realising it......but thanks for asking. Smile

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 23/01/2020 04:24

True, and it probably would look better if he did. However, he is retired and had to spend $196.5k on his one and a half day stay for his heart surgery (he has proved this by his hospital invoice). He is probably worried that he may have more treatment that he can't afford.

Just because you are paid for a story doesn't mean the story is untrue though. The two things aren't mutually exclusive.
