Not funny at all. I really sincerely hope William doesn't have a mistress that would be horrible, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I would hope he'd see what it did to his parents marriage and his mother especially and keep it in his trousers.

I generally think the stories about it are all nonsense but then Giles Coren (Times journalist) sent a rather direct tweet on the subject (confirming the rumour) which he swiftly deleted. Odd thing for a posh food critic at the Times to bother to tweet though. So the Royals are human and imperfect.

My own (based on nothing!) opinion is that he perhaps developed an embarrassingly obvious crush on this woman and so Kate has stopped them socialising in her company and the gossip spiraled from there.

Perhaps W was getting too sympathetic, so K put a stop to their close relationship ?
I've seen Mumsnetters post how their dhs have been helping women going through relationship problems and then getting romantically involved with the distressed woman or fearful their dh might be drawn in.
