Hi everyone,
I am a third year University student writing my dissertation about the reputation of the Royal Family and I would be very grateful if you could spend two minutes answering the below survey! Thank You

Can I suggest you put this on chat or aibu or other busier pages?
LineysRunner · 30/11/2017 02:29
Everyone else puts royal stuff in Chat - I'd give it a go!

And you preferably need a box that asks for my sex. Or allows to to specify that? Thanks.
DullAndOld · 30/11/2017 03:04
sorry i started doing the survey but stopped when I was asked for my 'gender'.
Atenco · 30/11/2017 03:16
It is odd being asked about what other people think about the royal family.
hevonbu · 30/11/2017 03:55
Done!
SleepingStandingUp · 30/11/2017 04:04
Why do people object to being asked tbeor gender?

Why do people object to being asked tbeor gender? Because gender is the wrong word.
LineysRunner · 30/11/2017 18:04
I was born as a specific biological sex. Female, as it happens.
Gender is a very different thing. It's the social construction of ideas around 'sex and sexuality and sexual characteristics' - it's an artificial cultural creation that we may or may not even be fully aware of.
It's not a posh word for sex.
My 'gender' is a construct I'm highly critical of, so you could argue I'm out of alignment with it.
I just want to tick the 'female sex' box.

LineysRunner fair enough x

Thank you reading my reply so graciously. Much appreciated.

That's ok. I have female bits. In female. I never give it Mick thought. I have a son who is 2 and i want him to think being a human means he can do anything biologically possible but I don't really think about it. He loves dolls and trains and pink and sheep and Mr Tumble and those girl genies but I don't overly think about it - but what that can do is make you thoughtless so i appreciate you taking the time to explain it x

Where's the survey gone ?

Thanks I needed to read a sensible post on sex and gender.
