So she's packed in her acting job, they are visibly besotted, it's the queen and Prince philip's 70th anniversary on Monday......perfect day for an announcement and a summer wedding after Kate has given birth?

Itd be a pretty shitty thing to do to the Queen. Bit "thunder stealing".

I reckon January announcement, bit of national joy for a crap month, with an August wedding.

LizzieSiddal · 18/11/2017 22:54

No way would they announce anything on Monday. That would be a dreadful thing to do!

I reakon a January announcement too with a low key Hmm wedding in April/May.

megletthesecond · 18/11/2017 22:58

Same as nap.

Late January announcement (will she visit Balmoral at Xmas?) and late summer wedding. we'd better get a bonus day off.

I don't think it would be very appropriate to announce on the Queens and the D Of E's anniversary.

Yes. Hopefully very low key indeed.

LizzieSiddal · 18/11/2017 23:03

We won’t get a day off meg. Not now he’s about 5th in line to the throne (and soon to be 6th. Actually when is Kate due? That may affect when they have the wedding.

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 18/11/2017 23:05

Would they have the wedding so soon after engagement? Don’t these things take ages to plan? How long were kate and wills engaged for?

SparklingSnowfall · 18/11/2017 23:05

Definitely not Monday, that would be awful timing, soon though, perhaps in time for Christmas with a wedding next summer giving Kate time to get herself together after the baby I’d say.

SparklingSnowfall · 18/11/2017 23:06

It’s quite quick Battered, they were something like November for an April wedding.

Battleax · 18/11/2017 23:07

They're probably already planning.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 18/11/2017 23:08

Surely they'll just have a St George's Chapel or Sandringham church wedding?

CotswoldStrife · 18/11/2017 23:08

Royals don't generally have long engagements so yes, if they do announce an engagement a wedding is likely to follow quite quickly.

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 18/11/2017 23:08

Oh that was quite quick. Good point battle.

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 18/11/2017 23:09

Was Harry engaged before to the Chelsea woman or am I imaging that?

Sedona123 · 18/11/2017 23:12

I think that they'll announce their engagement before Xmas as Meghan won't be allowed to attend Balmoral with Harry unless they're officially engaged. Either that, or they'll spend Xmas together somewhere else and then announce their engagement in January.

NorthernLurker · 18/11/2017 23:13

It won't be January. The queen needs to announce it formally at a privy council meeting and in January she's at Sandringham. The pc can go there but much more convenient if it's in London. If it's not this week then December or a February is my next guess Grin
There isn't a lot going on for the 70th anniversary, a private party that's all. Prince Charles is back tomorrow after a lengthy tour. I think it's perfect timing.

You're imagining it battered. The RF don't really do broken engagements.

NorthernLurker · 18/11/2017 23:16

It was November 16th for Wills and Kate and there was a lot of talk that the palace wanted a summer wedding but the couple insisted on April.

EachandEveryone · 18/11/2017 23:17

Oh how do you all know so much about royal scedules? Wink

SparklingSnowfall · 18/11/2017 23:19

I quite like the younger royals so tend to keep up with what they’re up to! DH thinks I’m a nerd for doing so!

NorthernLurker · 18/11/2017 23:22

I think the last broken royal engagement might have been the duke if Clarence and princess may of teck. He got out of it by dying and she married his brother instead becoming queen Mary eventually.

Frankly I don’t care.but the red tops and all the oh ma’aam sychophants will love it

Harsh characterisation, that Smile

JaneEyre70 · 18/11/2017 23:32

Kate is due in April, I'm sure I read somewhere? I'm still not convinced about the whole thing but if it does go happen, I'd bet on Windsor Castle chapel for a service after the Register Office like Charles and Camilla did. She's divorced so it won't be a Westminster Abbey job.

SadClown · 18/11/2017 23:34

If they're happy who cares, but I do wonder if she really knows what she's letting herself in for? From complete freedom and fame in America - to the UK, having to conform and constantly 'do the right thing' without being able to let her hair down or voice her true opinion, ever. Not my idea of fun that's for sure.
I actually like the royal family but I'd hate to be a part of it!

ssd · 18/11/2017 23:34

Nah, just marriages.
