It's OK in posts themselves, because they don't bugger up the entire display, and it's (usually) more possible to work out the context.
See long threads passim about why they're not really used in titles on MN.
Ditto why text speak isn't really used on MN at all.
It's because of MNers who need assistive technology.
Which is more important to society being 'emojist' or following a MN norm designed to help those with a disability?
