How many of you are excited for Kate's second child?
Are you looking forward to the first glimpse of the child.

Sod all.

So all the possible excitement in the media when this thread started at the start of last week has evaporated. I think they were all geared up for nice fluffy royal stories last week, then back to the election in time for polling day.

EdithWeston · 01/05/2015 06:53

So, definitely not April.

Jackieharris · 01/05/2015 06:54

Another scrounged I have to pay for? Great!

Jackieharris · 01/05/2015 06:55

Scrounger!

EdithWeston · 01/05/2015 07:03

I don't think there's any increase to the Civil List, and the Prince's private household expenses come from personal weath (not least the inheritance from his mother).

Of course, we could always return to the Monarch keeping all the profits of the Crown Estates. They would of course then have for more cash.

I read somewhere that the Queen has reduced the Royal reserves enormously, thus reducing cash cost of the official side of the monarchy. Also that the established monarchy is cheaper than a presidency.

IvoryMadonna · 01/05/2015 11:27

Well said Edith. Unfortunately many people have no idea about the deal with the Crown Estates.

frankie80 · 01/05/2015 14:16

I keep checking twitter. There's lots of reports of police convoys coming and going from kensington palace or the middletons but no sign of anyone royal at the lindo yet

AuntieStella · 01/05/2015 14:18

I saw on the news that William Hill had sent past a float with huge teddy bears and people dressed as guardsmen as light relief for the happy campers. Plus of course info on the latest odds for names.

The favourite this morning was Alice.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 01/05/2015 15:06

I wonder if they are aware of the name suggestions? I know id be "well I did want Alice but now everyone assumes thats what we will choose I have gone off it!"

Would it have been around the time of their Aussie tour they conceived? May go for Kylie Wink

Sansarya · 01/05/2015 15:09

I don't think so Hacked, Aussie tour was about a year ago.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/05/2015 15:19

A girl called Alexandra is my guess.

SquirmOfEels · 01/05/2015 15:29

If the due date was meant to be late April, then conception would have been around mid-July to early August last year. No idea if they went on holiday then, but there were various engagements dotted round England, plus the visit to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games, and one to Belgium for WW1 commemorations.

AuntieStella · 01/05/2015 19:07

This has to be the one of the oddest comments that the press are using to fill column inches:

"Harry Potter fanatics will now May 2 is the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts - the epic climax in the series' final installment.

"Author J.K Rowling has thrown in her two pennies about the name of the royal baby, wondering if the name Victoria, meaning victory, could reveal a hidden Harry Potter tribute from the royal household."

GlacindaTheTroll · 01/05/2015 19:09

If born on Monday, then please let it be a girl called Leia.

AuntieStella · 01/05/2015 19:28

There are internet reports of a vehicle with outriders seen in the vicinity, so people are beginning to speculate she's been admitted.

(Then again, the same was said yesterday too. One day it'll be right)

MadameJulienBaptiste · 01/05/2015 19:49

grouchykiwi Alexander is Georges middle name so I doubt theyd call a girl alexandra?
I would have died if anyone other than Dp and hospital staff knew that I was on my way in labour or see me trying to get out of the car mid-contraction.
We told no one that I'd gone into labour and rang to announce his arrival.
The thought of being in labour with half the world knowing about it, uuuuurrrrrrggggghhhh.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/05/2015 19:59

Oh, good point, I'd forgotten that.

Although people are weird. One of my Aunties called her four sons the same name. The oldest has it as his first name and the other three as their middle name.

frankie80 · 01/05/2015 20:12

where are those internet reports of cars outside? I doubt very much she would be admitted without anyone noticing.

Really wish the baby would hurry up. I want to know if my name choices were correct!

Alice or Eleanor for a girl
Arthur or David for a boy

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 01/05/2015 21:04

Ooh Eleanor is good.

IvoryMadonna · 01/05/2015 21:15

Wouldn't it be funny if the baby shot out at home without giving them time to get to the hospital? They could be enjoying a few hours of private new-baby-time as we speak, and nobody knows Grin

frankie80 · 01/05/2015 21:45

I'm surprised she's letting it go on this long TBH, I was 'royally' Grin fed up by about 7 months. If I'd gone overdue even by a day I'd be telling the doctors to do something to get the baby out NOW.

starts to sing "why are we waiting"

total royalist

GlacindaTheTroll · 01/05/2015 21:51

'waity Katey' ?

VixxFace · 01/05/2015 21:52

no

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 01/05/2015 21:59

I'm quite excited. Hope it's soon. Hope it's several days before the election so that the two news cycles don't get overshadowed by one another!

Victoria would be good and bad... Grin

AuntieStella · 01/05/2015 22:13

I'm now finding election coverage tedious now. No party is making headway, and discussion of the same old stuff over and over again seems like necessary evil rather than interesting campaign.

So getting it all interrupted would be very welcome to me.
