BTW, I agree, congratualations to them both
thatsnotmyfruitshoot · 16/11/2010 12:24
I doubt either of them are reading Mumsnet though, unless Kate has something to tell us
madonnawhore · 16/11/2010 12:47
I love a royal wedding, me.
Who will she wear, daahhling?!
NotActuallyAMum · 16/11/2010 13:10
It's nice to hear some good news for a change
MabelMay · 16/11/2010 16:47
oh god spare me who gives?
Mummiehunnie · 16/11/2010 16:53
He gave her Diana's engagement ring! I find that surprising!
LynetteScavo · 16/11/2010 16:57
I'm not surprised, he adored his mother.
And that ring cost a bloody fortune. I'm pleased to see he's not wasting tax payers money on any more bling!
Mummiehunnie · 16/11/2010 17:30
I would have thought it would be better to reset it, as his parents marriage was not ended by his mothers death!
ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 16/11/2010 17:30
Will the bride's parents pay for the wedding?
mathanxiety · 16/11/2010 18:48
Is she going to be Queen? Or just Princess? (and why do I care....)
TechLovingDad · 16/11/2010 20:52
What made me laugh was the coverage today. Natasha Kaplinsky "The royals have learned a lot since Diana's death".
The media fucking haven't, still hounding everyone with their cameras.
I honestly couldn't care less about this. Like they cared about my wedding.
MissKateMiddleton · 16/11/2010 20:54
I do need to fit into my frock though.
LynetteScavo · 16/11/2010 21:05
Math...she will become queen when William becomes king. Which will be after the queen and prince Charles have both carced it, so no time soon.
Doha · 16/11/2010 21:15
Couldn't give a flying fuck TBH
Would you want an second hand engagement ring knowing the history of the subsequent marriage.
Is this Prince Williams idea of thrift in the present economy?
I am a bit sceptical that this is being pushed forward as some good "feel good" news before we are hit the sucker punch of more job losses.
How much is this going to cost the tax payer or the Middletons.
Personally l think they should just secretly elope to Gretna Green if they want to get married and save us for months of Royal garbage getting forced down their throats.
Anyway congrats to waity Katie ( caught her man at last) and good old King Billy (to be )
Mummiehunnie · 16/11/2010 21:25
I kind of feel for the girl, imagine she was posting on here?
I waited for 8 years to get engaged and I got his mum's engagement ring (his parents divorced and after his dad cheated his mum cheated)... I gave up my youth, I gave up my career, I spent years molding myself to be the perfect woman and now I am being called lazy, ugly and all sorts on internet forum's....
I wish her well x
KateMiddletonsMum · 16/11/2010 21:28
Are you fucking kidding, we will not be soiling putting our hands in our designer clad pockets to pay for a wedding when the public can pay.
Mummiehunnie · 16/11/2010 21:29
TechLovingDad · 16/11/2010 21:30
Yeah, like she posts here.
Mummiehunnie · 16/11/2010 21:35
too busy preparing party pieces!
KateMiddletonsMum · 16/11/2010 21:39
I may have to learn some more ladylike language.
The Internet teaches one such peculiar words.
LynetteScavo · 16/11/2010 21:56
KatesMum...I bet you are well chuffed you forked out for private education now, aren't you.
To all the posters who say they send their DC to independant schools so they can socialise with a certain type of person, I take back all my haffaws and snorts. It's so paid off for KatesMum...look her daughter will probably, if the marriage lasts become queen. I think that top trumps becoming priminister, even.
poolet · 16/11/2010 21:58
I am underwhelmed by the news.
Tootlesmummy · 16/11/2010 21:59
Does anyone really care!? I'm already completely bored and it's only day 1 of their engagement, what the hell is it going to be like in 6 months......
Quattrocento · 16/11/2010 22:06
Surely, surely it's time for a revolution. We're well overdue. I know we started the trend too early and retired abashed, but it must be about time we caught up again.
If we do have a guillotine I volunteer to be a tricoteuse
