Can't link as on the app, but it's call 'it's totalled the car while driving drunk' or along those lines. Started off fine, but it's descended into being quite abusive and might need a look

OP posts:
Justagirlwholovesaboy · 25/02/2019 02:33

It’s turned but wouldn’t remove it, OP is acting bad but it’s a need to know thing. I would see it as educational

Waiting4mumhood · 25/02/2019 02:42

It's gotten totally out of hand on there.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/02/2019 03:15

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/thirty_days_only/3517143-it-s-totalled-the-car-whilst-pissed this one.

The abuse both to and by the OP are disgusting a couple of pages in - the whole thread needs to go.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/02/2019 03:16

I mean, if you want you can start removing the abusive posts only, but there'll be whole swathes of hidden/deleted posts

ColeHawlins · 25/02/2019 03:20

Heh. There'd be a long barren wasteland in the middle thumb Grin

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/02/2019 03:22

Yes, exactly! Grin

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 25/02/2019 03:24

Some would see it as out of hand, others as informative. I suppose it’s a matter of opinion. In a subject like drunk driving surely it’s better for people who search these forums to see the general opinion is it’s frowned upon and the police should be called. I for one would like to see the OP response when sober rather than being banned and the thread removed, we may learn something

ANightWatcher · 25/02/2019 03:29

Well that escalated quickly!!!

Have removed it

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 25/02/2019 03:35

I think that’s a shame, was educating people on the opinions people have of drunk drivers. No one on the forum was hurt and the one person insulted was happy to respond and give her status as a police officer and reinforce potential convictions. Such a shame as this thread could have done some good

Smotheroffive · 25/02/2019 03:35

I seriously think OP needed to answer on this! Vile abuse in both directions but it was a serious issue that involved serious crime.

Mumbunsandhuns · 25/02/2019 03:37

I think it was right to go. Totally agree it would have been a shame at first but some horrific offensive things were said by the op. I by no means live a sheltered life and what was said was absolutely vile.

Mumbunsandhuns · 25/02/2019 03:38

Actually do agree that op should have responded. Maybe just that one comment to go rather than the whole thread.

ANightWatcher · 25/02/2019 03:40

If MNHQ want to reinstate it they can but as pp said, the abusive posts were getting out of hand

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 25/02/2019 03:43

So as an OP if a thread isn’t going the way you like you just have to use the C word a few times and it’ll all be deleted? Nice to know!

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 25/02/2019 03:45

I completely respect you removing troll and abusive posts. But this was an honest post by an OP who didn’t like the responses given and started swearing, very different

ColeHawlins · 25/02/2019 03:50

It was both ways.

She got some very harsh responses quite early. Probably because some of the other posters had horrible experiences of drunk driving - even bereavements.

But OP did make several polite posts after she'd been accused of boasting (?!) being complicit and had been called names. Then when she snapped back she apparently completely lost it.

So it was as much pile on as it was OP BVU.

Smotheroffive · 25/02/2019 03:53

I really think OP needed to see what others were saying

ANightWatcher · 25/02/2019 03:54

Its not as simple as that.

Bottom line is with the level of abuse on that thread Ive removed it. Its now up to MNHQ to decide what to do next.

If youre not happy with it being removed feel free to contact them and let them know.

Its gone for at least the next few hours. Even if i wanted to reinstate it i can't

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 25/02/2019 04:00

The subject of drink driving will always be sensitive and emotions will be high. Could you let us know how we can contact MNQH to request the thread is edited but reinstated?

Please do not get defensive @anightwatcher I know everyone here appreciates you are doing your best and having to make individual calls. We appreciate it

ANightWatcher · 25/02/2019 04:03

Easiest way is to report one of your posts on this thread then just say your bit in the report field. They'll be on duty in a few hours. They can then decide the course of action they feel most appropriate

In the meantime Im logging off and going to bed. Goodnight
.

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 25/02/2019 04:04

Thank you, good night

Smotheroffive · 25/02/2019 04:34

Thanks for your hard work tonight ANightWatcher, its been a busy night tonight!

AnyaMumsnet · 25/02/2019 11:02

Hi there all,

We understand where you're coming from but we won't reinstating the thread. If we deleted all the posts that broke talk guidelines there wouldn't be much of a thread left.

Smotheroffive · 25/02/2019 22:30

Apart from mine Wink Grin

Thanks for responding @Anyamumsnet
