Kitten only sleeps on me and my toddler keeps waking up

New kitty is glued to me and I’m struggling!

she’s only little, 15 weeks old but I’m having zero sleep. She will not sleep anywhere but literally on me/in my bed. My issue is my daughter who’s 2.5yrs co sleeps on and off (she was a boob junkie until 3 months ago) and I’ve caught her a few times rolling over and nearly laying on the kitten. She also keeps being woken up by her cos the kitten keeps climbing on top of her and meowing literally in her ear. I get overwhelmed easily (ADHD) and I’m really at the point where I’m thinking what have I done getting this kitten!!! I’m so so so so tired. Will she ever sleep on her own?! My son is 5 and is desperate for her to sleep on his bed but she just won’t. Advise please 😭 I don’t want to be cruel but I’m exhausted

Why can't you just shut her in a room? None of my cats sleep on the beds at night, they have access to everything they need downstairs. Cats get into routines quite quickly so start as you mean to go on, the kitty will be fine!

Awww shes just a baby. She's missing her mum. My 16 year old is still a velcro cat ut then she is a rescue and a bit insecure.
The kitten will be much more independent in just a short while.
If you smell of milk that might be attracting her too.

Cat a small cardboard box from a supermarket, my cats love a cardboard box to sleep in with no blanket in!

I'd like to tell you they grow out of this but 3 out of 4 of my cats still sleep with me. I used to wrap them in my dressing gown when I didn't want them in bed with me, also brought a ton of cat houses. 😂

We have a 16 week kitten and it’s the same, she moves around a lot in the night and wants to be under my chin or in my neck just anywhere that’s warm for her and uncomfortable for me. I don’t feel right shutting her in a room on her own while she’s still so young. Hopefully they’ll grow out of it!

Thanks everyone. I tried shutting her out of my room, with access to my son’s room. But she meowed and meowed that loudly that she woke everyone up and she was clawing at the carpet!!

I didn’t expect her to be this attached to me. I think I got more sleep when I had newborns

Guinea pig heat pad (because they stay hot 8 hours) or heatie wheatie wrapped in your top, in a cosy box in another room.

If you want to sleep you'll have to persist.

I've never let any of my pets sleep on my bed and this has worked really well for all of them - they're used to sleeping in a heap of siblings with their mum - they want the warmth. I've always taken their blanket to the breeder a few days prior to bringing them home too, so it has the scent, but as your kitten is attached to you your top will work.

Edited to add that I have the SnuggleSafe heat pad.

A downside of only getting one imo.

I'd further the heat pad, in a cardboard box, with some of your clothing on it, like an old non washed t-shirt.

I had the most fabulous adult cat that used to wake me up for cuddles and fuss. Biscuit making on my face at 3am was a particular favourite. Her claws had to be kept very short!

I’ll never understand people that add pets to an already busy plate. I know you couldn’t foresee the exact circumstance of a kitten sleeping on you but she is a baby, what did you expect? And you still have a small child depending on you.

My little rescue kitten slept under my chin from when I got her until she was around 8 months. She was found abandoned at about six weeks old and was quite poorly for a while so I expect she wanted comfort. She now sleeps under my bed and I miss the snuggles to be honest.

@Namechangerage unfortunately I am now totally agreeing with this. I didn’t realise how much she would need me, naive of me I know but I’ve only ever had puppies and everyone said how easy cats were. I looked into it enough to know I could afford her and give her a good life! But the reality is different and I feel fucking awful

Your youngest and the kitten will get used to each other. Don’t worry about the 2 year old squishing the kitten.

Furry hot water bottle

I’ll try a hot water bottle. In all honesty I’m feeling really out of my depth with her, she’s so lovely but I don’t know what I’m doing!! Where I got her from she was so settled (they had her 3 extra weeks due to us being on holiday) her mum was there and they also had another cat. They were also so upset to see her go, the ladies son was crying. So she had loads of company and an older child to play with her. I’m just worried she’s getting bored or lonely. I’ve definitely bitten off more than I can chew. I’m sat trying to do some work from home and twice now she’s climbed up my arm, I have a T-shirt on so ouch. I can’t seem to keep her busy enough! Feel like just taking her back to her home, feeling like I’ve bloody failed her. Many places say 2 is better than 1 but can’t get another cat to keep her company, if I can’t cope with this one I wouldn’t cope with another!

My kitten’s Mum is away and guess what kitten now has to sleep with one of us. She’s very good though happy to be next to us with the odd snuggle she’s 6 months though.

People dont realise that kittens are hard work just like babies. I prefer older cats as they are settled and not desperate to be with people so much.
I have a much younger cat too who was velcro central as a kitten but now isnt interested in me at all. She's out all day. Give it a few months.

This is why you get two kittens, so they have company and don’t rely on you for all their needs.
