Hot weather - cat's new favourite drink !

My cats are very fussy about drinking and will only have it from stagnant puddles, running taps ( not feasible in these water shortages) or the toilet! However I have discovered that if you put a glass full of tap water in the bowl and stir in a couple of teaspoons of tinned tuna they will lap up all the fishy water. Sounds disgusting to me but its a cheap way of getting them to drink more without investing in cat broth or soup.

@Yamyamabroad That's a good idea.
I don't have cats, have a dog and recently he was coughing after being out playing fetch. Thought was maybe a bit of dry grass stuck in his throat. He had a small drink, but to encourage him to drink more we put a small amount of milk (literally a spoonful) in his water and he drank the whole bowl. Result!
Obviously our pets find plain water a bit meh.

Unfortunately I have tuna in brine so I can't do that but if I put a big glass of water (almost pint sized) on the side table and wander off it does seem to evaporate. Put it on the floor and it doesn't. It's a real mystery 🤔

You need a cat fountain, it has the same effect as a running tap.

They have a fountain but refuse to drink from it - contrary cats!
