Is my eight-month-old indoor cat genuinely hungry or just greedy?

Cat is 8 months and weighs about 3kg.
she is an indoor cat and seems happy-likes playing and attention etc.
but she’s always starving!
According to the instructions on the food she should have one pouch in the morning and one in evening plus 25g of scrumbles biscuits mid morning. She used to have Tesco biscuits which she’d graze on all day but inhales the scrumbles instantly.
She shouts for food at all hours of the day and is in the pouch as you are squeezing it out! She’ll also try to eat the dog’s food, our food, tries to get into the treat tin and the box that her food is kept in.

Is she just greedy or should we give her more?

Agree with a PP she’s technically a kitten until 12 months and needs lots of calories and fed on demand. And I wouldn’t feed any kitten of mine Tesco kibble either, get a more nutritious kitten kibble, Purina one is a good value one, or she needs the very best start in life and lots of calories 😻

@IamChipmunk did you find scrumbles whilst declaring ‘war on poos’ made the litter tray smell very very bad !

My cat spends most of his life outside in Summer but can polish off at least 5 pouches of food plus maybe some tuna or chicken or dried food. He is quite big though! and can roam far and wide
I met him about a mile away once. He fled home!? Beat me hollow. Strange fellow. Just sits, nearby and watches the hedgehog that comes to be fed each night about 11pm. ( Hedgehog cares less.)

@SqueakyFromme They have always been on Scrumbles since tiny kittens so nothing to compare it with!
Don't think it makes poop smell any less like poop to be honest! But always quite small and firm.
Luckily they mostly go outside now, just boy cat who prefers to still wee in the tray for some reason!

My 1 year old female who is a really petite cat has 2 pouches per day plus 24/7 access to biscuits. She's always hungry but only weighs 3kg at what must now be her adult size.

Our other cat, 6kg, hardly seems to eat anything except a few biscuits now and then.

They're all different so I would feed her more as long as her weight is in the normal range.

I’d leave biscuits down permanently so she can graze on demand. She’ll regulate herself.

@IamChipmunk thanks ! Mine is now going outside but I’m sad for the days when his paws were pristine white when he was indoors, he went right off scrumbles for some reason, I might try the dry food which he seems to prefer to wet food now anyway.

Studies have shown that indoor cats do best and maintain a more normal body weight if they are fed 5 small meals a day with the last one as we go to bed. Also using puzzle feeders etc to mimic hunting behaviour prior to eating can be really good both physically and psychologically for your cat.

She was only on Tesco as she was a rescue and that’s what she came on.
The scrumbles seems to make less smelly poos I think. Whiskers pouches (again-what she came with and seems to really like)
puzzle feeder is a good idea. She’s extremely clever!

8 months is still a kitten, she might have a bit more growing to do. Also a lot of supermarket foods don’t have a lot of protein so she might not be feeling satisfied.

Give her good quality food with a high protein content, leave out kibble for her to graze throughout the day, and deworm her regularly.
