Do cats think your full time job is just to stroke and cuddle them?

Constantly pushing and shoving me to stroke her, constantly all over me to snuggle up and make her way into my face.

Yes, when you are not engaged in the other important task of feeding them.

Yes! And providing nice food and bedding.

Yes! Petting, feeding, opening doors, closing doors, getting out in the garden with them..... and so on and on

Mine does that when she’s bored or wants attention. Usually when I’m rushing out to work.

Yes getting out in the garden with them. I bought her a nice video activated cat flap which she does use but prefers muggins here to open French doors and go out with her, the other day she was miaowing the whole time (rare) I said “there’s no one out here” and left her to it.

No. My cat doesn’t like being touched.

Oh, he/ she got sensitive whiskers. They have them all over their body and that is why most cats have a threshold of how much petting they can take before getting overwhelmed. It is like tickles, I suppose.

Absolutely. The late Cheddar constantly needed attention. Especially at 3am! Penelope learned well from her.

I know how you feel OP. My cat is driving me mad at the moment with her constant demands.
She loves to sit on a cushion on my knee while I stroke her but in this heat it's too much, she won't sit on the cushion next to me, it has to be on my knee.

I kind of wish my cat was like that. But all he does is loudly announces his entrance from his gallivanting, brushing past my legs, goes to his bowls, demands treats, and then goes to his bed to sleep. No stroking or petting allowed. A bit like teenager, I suppose.

Yes pay them attention when they want it. Leave them strictly alone when they don't feel like it, but be on call just in case. It's the other reason why I can't work from home - the ADHD is bad enough, but nobody can concentrate with getting their legs and bum patted constantly accompanied by little crying noises!

In punishment for me shaming her on this thread, she is now wiping her bum along on the sofa. My god!!

My lad, is very affectionate, unlike my previous queen.
Adopted at 7, brother given away to Facebook, mum got puppy, had a bad time being fostered, settled in within 3 hrs wanting love, he’s 10 now.

Only on their terms. If you divert attention to either a laptop or a newspaper, they will correct you by walking horizontally across it, turning around and walking back again, as often as necessary. A friend of mine picked up her cat from a keyboard and it doubled down and pulled out the K key and another on the other side with the claws, so you have been warned!
