Anyone else's cat disappear in the summer?

Our two voids have just been allowed 24/7 free range for the first time (we used to keep them in at night) and our youngest has decided it's amazing.

He used to return every 2-3 hours in the day and scream at me, but now he's out for 12-15 hours at night, comes home for some biscuits, sleeps on my counters all day then disappears to do some more important cat business Grin

Yes it’s the way of the summer cat, all those winter months snoozing indoors were preparation for this 😆

Ha - my older boy can't be bothered and is currently snoring on the rug but the youngest has just disappeared again having convinced me that he desperately needed some dreamies for energy Hmm

I used to have a cat that would disappear in the summer. We wouldn't see him for a few days, but we'd know he'd been home overnight because the dry food we left out would be gone. He was just taking himself off, living his best life in the sunshine. As soon as it rained he'd be back, yowling loudly until we gave him a rub dry with a towel. I miss that boy.

I love the idea of them living their best life. Mine isn't bothered by rain, he was out until 9am this morning and came in soaked for his breakfast!

Yes, my boy has been sleeping outside or in the woods and only coming in through the cat flap for breakfast, dinner and dreamies. As soon as he's had that he disappears, no cuddles or anything.

Yeah, mine isn't up for cuddles either - he's also off his food though happily ate two slices of DH's roast chicken 🤔

Yep! We put a tracker on her one weekend as it was getting stressful. She basically sleeps in the same bush just behind my garden fence 🤣

I'm trying to decide if I can let them out at night, seems mean to have them in on hot nights

My girl tends to go out with her dad at 4am and hasn't been coming in till 9 ish. I usually feed her on work days at 6.45, which she knows but sometimes isn't coming back.

When she does it's with a flourish as she throws herself on the hall rug
