What make of cooling mat do you have and is it actually cool?

I'm not really expecting either of our cats to use it, but Ollie has convinced me I need to bite the bullet and at least buy one - he was breathing very heavily for an hour yesterday.

If cats won't use, maybe a human can😂

Most of the people I know who have got them their cats won't go on them. I use a damp towel he sometimes goes on it but he loves a rub down with it.

Just a blue one from Amazon, neither cat will go near it.

We have two - the bog standard plasticky one that the dog won’t even walk on, and then this one which she absolutely adores.

It doesn’t feel cool to me but it changes colour to show where it’s taking the heat and she feels cooler when she gets off it. No idea how it works!

Just realised I’m in the litter tray… sorry!

I chucked our cool mat away as the cat would sit next to it and glare at us. He prefers a shady spot outside (there is a lot of natural shade in our garden and nearby) - he stays outside and sleeps all day, then comes indoors when it's cooler.

This week to combat the heat for the cat I've been:
(1) hosing the patio a few times during the day to make sure it's not too hot for him to walk on on his way in and out of the house,
(2) feeding him soups rather than his usual wet food, to reassure myself that he's getting a good liquid intake,
(3) being assiduous with changing the water in the bowls that are dotted around the house and garden. Although I did find a frog in the garage bowl this morning, maybe I'm trying too hard 😬

I bought one for my cat a couple of years ago. She will not sit on it. I think it's the squidgy feeling of the gel under her paws that she objects to. I have been using it instead!
