Kitten names needed, warning Kitty Porn!

So I'e had this wee guy for a week. He needs a name, I'd love something fitting or clever.

He has a bit of attitude and plenty to say for himself but also a snuggle bug.

Current front runners are Leo/Lionel or something like Eddie/Teddy/Freddie, just dont think anything is quite right.

We lost our beloved Lucy over a year ago aged 17 so he has a lot to live up to!

Love Lionel for him as he is a lion.

He's gorgeous! That paw-mark shape on his tummy is adorable.

WhatNowHmm · 25/06/2026 22:04

So cute @fgfgfg.i can definitely see that my guy would look similar as an adult.

It doesn't have to be a people name, please suggest something else if you have an idea. We had Buster, Bandit and Zorro on the list too.

I am struggling to get past Lionel aka Leo though. I just need to check that neither of the boys intends it as a possible future child's name.

He thinks he is big bad leopard even though he weighs less than a bag of sugar.

sacha.
as in sacha distel, the frenchman who sang “raindrops keep falling on my head” - due to the raindrop markings on his tummy.

What about Leopard with Leo for short? Or Perseus with Percy as a nickname?

I must be older than I look...I've just turned 60. I put off having another cat as I wasn't sure i had another one in me and I didn't want an older cat so soon after saying goodbye to Lucy.

At the end if the day though I'm fit and healthy and no reason I shouldn't be around in 20 years. Adult DSs have assured me that they will be happy to ensure he has a home if anything should happen to me and also to support with vet visits etc. I also think he is far better coming to a good home where he'll be taken care of and loved than where he might end up. Although im sure rescue centres do a lot of due diligence.

We feel blessed although I might not be saying that when he wakes up from his 4 hour nap....😂

Or when he gives you a mouse as a present right in the doorway

WhatsAWeekend · 25/06/2026 22:14

I’ve thought of another one

Surely any name has to reference the perfect paw print on his belly?! I can only come up with Stamp but I'm not very clever / well read

BatsInHibernation · 25/06/2026 22:21

Completely gorgeous!
I am in two camps for animal names. Our current animals all have very much 'pet' names. My suggestions for this little guy would be

Crumble
Fudge
Biscuit
Kipper
Ziggy
Biffy
Wolfie

But previously my animals have had more human names, my suggestions for him being

Jerry
Jonty
Monty
Marlow
Mac
Olly
Caspar
Jasper
Claude
Lenny
Hugo
Sonny
Gino

Hugo as in Hugo Boss aka boss cat because let’s face it, he will be the boss of the house.

BatsInHibernation · 25/06/2026 22:25

Tygertiger · 25/06/2026 21:31

Is he definitely a boy? I only ask as he looks a bit tortie and white from the pics, which would make it very likely he’s female? Or is he a blotchy tabby?

Looks like a Calico!

Idontlikedogsandyesidostillhaveaheart · 25/06/2026 22:26

He’s a Sid

Some brilliant suggestions folks, I think im more confused than ever. I think it would be easier to pick if only 5 names existed. I think having more suggestions has actually made it harder, there are so many I like and so many that suit him but I just feel im missing something obvious/clever and that in 6 months time I'm going to think "oh, I wish I'd named him ...."

I would say that I had as much bother naming my children. I think in the end it was my eldest who was about 7 at the time who suggested Lucy and we went with it as his brothers suggestions were, interesting... So I definitely don't feel bad about leaning more towards his choice this time. They are both easygoing though so there is no jealousy or resentment. DS2 can't even remember what he suggested for Lucy. He once suggested his teacher name her baby Skulduggery or Dave, she was having a girl!
