So I'e had this wee guy for a week. He needs a name, I'd love something fitting or clever.

He has a bit of attitude and plenty to say for himself but also a snuggle bug.

Current front runners are Leo/Lionel or something like Eddie/Teddy/Freddie, just dont think anything is quite right.

We lost our beloved Lucy over a year ago aged 17 so he has a lot to live up to!

Roy?

Puppylucky · 25/06/2026 20:24

Surely any name has to reference the perfect paw print on his belly?! I can only come up with Stamp but I'm not very clever / well read

DejaMooo · 25/06/2026 20:34

I really like human names for cats that are old classics. Our cat is Vincent, and definitely suits him.

I might go for Ernie, Victor, Arthur, Hugo, Theodore, Edgar. You get the idea 😸

Dudley. Cuddly Dudley ❤️

bungobungobungo · 25/06/2026 20:50

Twinkle!

So many names that were on my long list, even Roy! It's so hard, and yes, that pawprint on his tummy is really unique and I'd love to reference it but I can't think of anything good either. It also sort of looks like leopard print which is why I keep coming back to Leo/Lionel. Also because he was running around chasing a ball when Lionel aka Leo Messi scored to become the top scorer in World Cup matches ever. Only DS2 lives football though and he feels a bit guilty if we pick that. As a little boy he had an Argentina top with Messi on the back and we laughed as he was very messy (now diagnosed ADHD). He doesn't want to monopolise the same choice. I also had Leonard on the list so could have that too and still be Leo. It shouldn't be this hard. 😂

I vote Lionel! What a cutie.

Puppylucky · 25/06/2026 20:55

Seconding Lionel! We have a Marvin but Lionel was our second choice.

SereneGoose · 25/06/2026 20:56

Just met a lovely dog called Colin...

Puppylucky · 25/06/2026 20:58

Ooh Scout - suggested by Chat GPT as a pawprint reference could be good as well

ToadRage · 25/06/2026 21:01

Print, cos he has a paw print on his belly. He is super cute.

Keppoch · 25/06/2026 21:01

Stephen

DaydreamerBetty · 25/06/2026 21:06

Sid

DaydreamerBetty · 25/06/2026 21:07

Or Simon

UnderThePressure · 25/06/2026 21:08

Immediate thought was Dexter.

WhatNowHmm · 25/06/2026 21:08

I didn't realise that men's names would be so awkward. Some suggested are male colleagues or friends husbands or exs which kinda takes them if the table. Like Colin, Garry, Keith and Stephen. My own ex also been mentioned so thats not a choice I'm going to make 😂
