She’s 15 and has begun limp I noticed this morning her right shoulder looked displaced. She’s fine in herself didn’t use her cats stairs this morning just bounded off the bed.

called the vet when they opened and took her to her appointment. He told me she has a tumour on the bone not soft tissue. She’s having an X-ray tomorrow.

I asked about prognosis and he said could be a few months to a year. I was blindsided.

We absolutely won’t let her suffer but I wondered if anyone else has had this and how long you had. I guess I won’t know until tomorrow. I stood in the vets and burst into tears like an idiot.

We rescued her and her brother when they were 1, she is my poppet I adore her and can’t process that we likely wont have her for as long as I imagined.

I’m so sorry this has happened to your poor cat but in my experience bone cancer is brutal in animals. While it may very much depend on pain levels right now in your shoes I’d be letting her go as soon as her pain wasn’t managed by pain relief. You will know when. But it’s a horrible voice that nobody wants to make. My dad said to me when I got my first puppy, it’s your responsibility to make sure they never suffer a single day of pain. Better to let them go a day too early than a week too late and he was right. It killed me watching my boy. Letting him go was the biggest gift I could give him.

Agree with previous poster. I’m very sorry for your sad news.

Thank you @CantMakerHerThinkwe won’t let her suffer. The vet said she’s not appearing in any pain her mobility in the joint is still good but both dh and myself have said we will make a decision once we have the full picture. I can’t get my head around the probability of having to say goodbye to her so soon. I feel heartbroken. I don’t know how her brother will cope.
