Neighbourhood Cat Spraying on My New Outdoor Furniture - How to Deter?

Hi everyone,

I live in a small cul-de-sac and am visited by the local cats fairly often. In the last couple of years a 'new' cat has moved in to the street. I have a 13 year old male cat (neutered), he has slowed down a lot and tends to observe other cats in the garden rather than run at them these days.

The 'new' cat has started coming in to our garden a lot more and will sit on my shed roof (my cats favourite sunspot) and I've seen it wee on the grass where my cat goes. My cat seems to be a bit intimidated by it.

I bought some new furniture and outdoor rug, it has been out all of 2 nights (with a cover on thankfully) and the new cat has been early both mornings and sprayed all up the cover in 2 different places, it absolutely stinks. It did the same with my new tomato greenhouse but I'm obviously not as bothered about that.

Is there anything at all that I can do about this? I don't know if the cat is dominating mine and don't know who it belongs to. It will really stress me out if I have to come down and clean it every single day, not to mention the inevitable time I'll forget to put the cover on.

Really long post but trying to give the full picture.

Thanks.
