Saying goodbye to my nine year old cat with kidney cancer today

I don’t know why I’m posting, I should be sleeping. I’m broken. She’s only 9 but has a mass on her kidney. She only let me know two days ago and I took her to the vet. They’ve been managing her sickness and pain but I can’t put her through painful treatment that probably won’t work. She’s beautiful and has the most amazing temperament.

I watched my mum die of cancer when I was young and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Thank you for your kindness. She’s a beautiful Norwegian Forest cat. She’s stunning and a real character. She bosses the dogs around, loves going outside on her harness and eating dreamies. She would always know if I needed her and would curl up and purr on her terms.

Freja is beautiful, I'm so sad you're going through this. I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Scully 4 weeks ago due to kidney disease and it was heartbreaking so I totally feel your pain, my thoughts are with you x

Thanks so much to all of you for your support. I’m broken it just seems so unfair.
She went downhill over night and I think waited for me to say goodbye this morning. As soon as the vet called to update us we went. I held her and told her what a good cat she was and how much we all love her.

She’s at peace now and playing over the rainbow bridge.

I didn’t want her to suffer but also wanted to give her a chance in case she responded to the medication.

Sending you lots of hugs op. I’ve lost two precious cats in the last 4 years and it hurts like hell. Grieve and let it all out and in time you will smile at the memories of her.

She was beautiful, am so sorry for your loss. She was blessed to have you to put her needs first and to let her pass peacefully without pain.

Thanks all so very much. I was worried I’d be judged for not catching it sooner but honestly she showed no signs at all. Norwegian Forests are warriors and mask any pain so very well. My other animals are looking for her today. They’re sticking to me like glue. I’ve had so many cuddles and kisses from them. I just really miss her so much already.
