It’s time to say goodbye to my girl 😢

Really struggling to type this without crying. 😢 We’ve come to the decision it’s time to say goodbye to our beautiful girl. She’s 18 and in the past week eating less and less. Yesterday she ate a few wet treats but isn’t interested in food and just wants to sleep. Vet couldn’t find anything obviously wrong and agreed it’s time. I don’t want her to suffer it’s not fair on her. I have a lovely lady coming out to put her to sleep and then take her to the crematorium. My heart is breaking 😢 She’s been by my side through everything and I don’t know how I’m going to cope without her 😢💔

Although incredibly sad, how lovely that she’s not ending her life in pain with some awful illness. Sleeping more and more is how most of us would like our beautiful pets to go. Nothing wrong with crying, but you’ll have 18 years of fond memories to look back on, which will hopefully make you smile as well as cry.

@mygrandchildrenrock thank you 🩷 I said the same thing to my husband. We nearly lost her last year, but surprised the vet and us and bounced back. I feel very grateful to have that extra year with her that I didn’t think we were going to have. I need to keep reminding myself it’s best to let her go while she still has some dignity left, in her favourite spot, with all of us around her 🩷

Im so sorry but think of all the good years you had her and she had you.

I believe animals know when their time has come and they begin to drop the rope by losing interest in food and sleeping. Would that we could go so peacefully!

Cradle her gently as she floats across the rainbow bridge to be welcomed by many loved ones who have featured in the litter tray.

Clear her things and make way for a rescue who will be privileged to step into her paws.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had a very similar situation nearly 2 years ago with my 18 yr old Siamese girl. My lovely vet helped her pass peacefully over the 🌈 bridge, and I’m sure she will be waiting to welcome your lovely girl. I will be thinking of you 💔

Someone shared this with me when we had to make the hard decision with our 18 year old cat last year. It's never an easy thing to do but I think the not eating is a clear sign that they've had enough and are ready to go, my girl was a proper hoover that would eat anything up until the last few days.

So sorry to hear this.

Update - my girl passed peacefully on my lap surrounded by us all. The vet thinks it was renal failure. My precious girl.. I don’t how to to be without her 💔😢 we’re all struggling so much, I just hope it gets easier in time 😢
