Cat pissing on DH shoes then persisting

We had 2 well behaved cats. Last week DH stood in some dog shit and left his shoes in the porch to clean later. When he retrieved them the cat had pissed on them. We chucked the shoes and cleaned the porch (hard floor) immediately.
Since then she has kept pissing in that spot. I have tried recleaning (4x) and tin foil and orange scent but she persists.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you

Can you just keep her out of the porch?

The litter box (cleaned 2x per day!) is in there so not really. Could be a temp solution to resolve the issue I suppose.

Did you use an enzyme cleaner? Can you move the litter tray to where she’s peeing?

Came to ask the same questions.

Can you put the litter tray on top of the offensive spot where the shitty shoes had been?

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 13/03/2026 16:55

Yes, in theory, but it would block the cat flat. I will figure this out. I am seeing DH put his shoes in the wrong place and this is literally all his fault and my fury princess is not to blame at all!

@Wolfiefan I did use an enzyme cleaner - and then bleach, then enzyme again. She is resilient!

Bleach contains ammonia and will just encourage her to pee more!

Are you certain the cat did this? Many football boots and trainers are made with a kind of glue that smells exactly like cat urine if the shoes get wet and it is almost impossible to get rid of the smell.

DS’s football boots were banished to the garage as they smelt so bad.

If she’s doing it by the catflap is there a chance it’s because she doesn’t want to go out? Scared? Any strange cats hanging around?
