Unhinged poop lunacy

Please can I just offload to fellow cat owners about my batshit bloody cat. I’m not sure there is a solution apart from deep breathing exercises

There is no stone I have not tried to overturn in my quest to put an end to the cat poop lunacy but nothing works.

13 yo female spay cat - she is healthy, been checked and had tests, yes we have feliway and litter tray options

Cat uses litter tray 90% of the time for wee…

about a year ago she gave up pooping in the tray, opting for a preference for hiding places such as under beds or in drawers

This went on a little while but now all the access to hiding places and opportunities have been closed off - this is what she does has anyone ever heard of a cat doing this?! If so, why?

she brazenly perches on a up high place - the bannister, a shelf or the back of the sofa or a chair and just shits mid air. So yes, you can be walking past the stairs and get hit by falling cat turds

I would try changing her diet. Mine is on PurrForm and her poos are small and crumbly with very little smell.

We have tried pain relief she is fine we think!

vet couldn’t find anything wrong with her apart from her kidneys declining a bit. She is eating us out of house and home, jumping, climbing, scaring us all, bothering us for a fuss in exactly the same way she always has. She is very sprightly and agile.

she can only eat a kidney care diet

At Xmas she stole half a gammon from the side and dragged it up the stairs and nearly unalived herself trying to scoff it whole

she has however always had an angry screw loose and prone to random human attacks, trashing things, losing her temper. She is a mean one

Kidney disease in cats can cause dementia like symptoms, so first I'd check her kidneys are being optimally treated.

Arthritis too can cause problems toileting so maybe try a pain meds trial.

Is she a tortoiseshell by any chance?

Glitchymn1 · 05/01/2026 12:10

🤣🤣🤣I’m glad you can see the funny side! I’d also think either dementia, stress, outside animal. Friend’s cat started doing it and it was due to dental issues, she wasn’t launching her poop ninja style though, just doing it behind a door not in her tray.!

My cat did this but wasn’t quite so creative. New vet put him on half a teaspoon of Laxatract every night. Now using box full time (touch wood).

Yes a white and tortie! And unhinged 😂

I would say it’s worse since the kidney disease diagnosis

My cat is 14 and luckily doesn't hide her poops, but she does crap on the bathroom floor multiple times a day right next to her litter tray! If there's the tiniest bit of wee or pee in her tray, she won't use it. She also goes in the garden and the next door neighbour's garden. Oh, and it's not solid poop, it's fully on runny diarrhoea so you have to wipe it up! She explodes so It goes up the wall too! 🤢It stinks the house out!

I'm not kidding when I say I will never get a cat ever again! 🤣
