Our lovely old girl passed today

Just wanted to share our beloved tortie
Poppy, who was coming up to 20 years old in June.

She'd been with us since we got our first house and seen two babies arrive, so lived a long happy life.

She passed in her sleep, we could tell she wasn't right the past few days, but it was peaceful at the end. It was tough losing her brother last year as we had to make the difficult decision to euthanise, but it feels even harder this time now we have no pets left in the house.

My young DDs doted on her, although I'm already being asked about getting kittens - that's kids for you 😊

Unfortunately (or fortunately for you) there will be plenty of kittens or young cats waiting to be rehomed in rescue centres up and down the country. Don't forget you'll need two or more 😉

I feel like the girls have dealt with it better having been through it quite recently. It's just such a long time to have had them, for them it's all their lives! I said as my youngest is only 4, it's amazing she got to meet them even really as they were 15 when she was born.

Will definitely be getting two when the time is right 😺

She’s gorgeous, what a lovely long time to have her, and what a peaceful way to go, she was lucky to be so loved and cherished and I’m sure she knew how loved she was. I know losing and missing them is awful but the love you both get to experience is so worth it as it’s life enhancing for everyone involved.

Lovely cat. 💮 I hope you are feeling better soon OP, and that you manage to acquire a couple of kittens in the Spring, when shelters are under pressure. A catless house is miserable when you've been so used to them.

Thanks so much everyone. She was collected today to be cremated.
It just feels mad that DH and I had her and her brother for almost half our lives!
