My nervous cat is now 12 and not getting any less nervous. She's on cystease for feline idiopathic cystitis and I manage her care very carefully in order to minimise her feelings towards her housemate whom she doesn't like.

She's in otherwise good health and enjoys pootling about the garden and lying in the sun, going on the sofa etc. I've bought her a valerian and lavender impregnated collar which is designed to help calm cats during firework season, which is coming up. It smells very strongly and I'm now worried that it'll give her a headache. I'm sitting next to her and it's making me feel calmer! 😂

How will I know if she's okay with it? She does like valerian because we give her a few dried bits of it to eat.

One of mine who came from an abuse situation needs the calming drops every 3 weeks like clockwork.

Vet thinks he was stuck in fight or flight so we did 8 months of “real” medication then weaned him off and on to the drops. We use this one.

Also … you didn’t pay the tax for the post OP. Cough up the kitty photos!
