Can I just show you my two foster fails...

So I was conned into fostering for a rescue for a week to cover holiday years ago and it has never stopped. We have had mums and kittens, seven kittens in a litter at once, older cats who have been really hard to rehome. We had many feral, born outside kittens who we have tamed to lovely furballs and others who we have managed to get to a friend's farm. Being only human we have a couple who never moved on (our grumpy old girl has nothing to do with them).

So this is the point of my post and it is an absolute brag! These two were not adopted (until us) and they are the most stunning, loving and characterful felines ever. They were adopted a year apart but are each others world and bo one has seen love until little tabby has seen how much he loves our huge panther ❤️

They. Are. ADORABLE.

@AnonSugar. Thank you, I think I am feeling a bit introspective because DC moved out for uni. The big panther (he is 7kg) came with his brother as a little kitten from outside and took lots of taming. I remember keeping the crate in the living room and feeding chicken through the bars! He is now the biggest softie on the planet and all foster kittens adore him!

Little tabby boy is actually half bengal and came with his 3 siblings at around 6 months. They had never been socialised. When we managed to trap him for neutering and vaccines, the vets said they had never encountered a cat with such anxiety- his heart rate was off the scale. Somehow he has managed to grow and trust us. And he loves the big panther. So he was going nowhere!

Sadly these cats exist because people do not neuter their cats.

What a huge black cat ! They are fabulous. Great work by you.
My son has a very petite Queen and a 'normal' size Tabby. If I figure out how to post a pic I will!

I think this is why DH won’t let me be a cat fosterer!!! I ADORE your panther boy - he is amazing 😍

Wynter25 · 29/07/2025 22:24

Cuties 😍 look like my kitties

willstarttomorrow · 29/07/2025 23:19

Thank you all. I am being quite self indulgent showing offmy lovely boys.

@MarxistMags he weighs in at just under 7 kg. After we adopted him we just looked at him one day and said 'bloody hell- he has got massive'!. He is also totally black, paw pads, whiskers etc with yellow/ green eyes. The person looking after when we were away pointed out, he actually also has a panther shaped head . Having done a bit of research there is a breed called Bombay which the big softie looks like, but unlikely they are being bred in the wild grounds of a Huddersfield hotel 😁

They are beautiful and obviously very well cared for by their cat slave.

CatherinedeBourgh · 30/07/2025 06:29

That is so lovely. Big male cats are the best. We had a huge Maine Coon (10kg +) who fostered several feral kittens. He did all the parenting, including litter training them (we did the bottle feeding where required). All you would literally see was a tiny head peeking out of this enormous mass of cat.

He died seven years ago and I still miss him.

Dandelionsand4leafclover · 30/07/2025 07:06

Utterly adorable 😍 ❤️ 💖 💕

MrsCatE · 30/07/2025 07:37

OP Your Panther could be the twin of beloved BastardCat who died when only 8. He was a Bruiser; 8.6kg! Obviously, all 💪 Nice to see when cats can hit it off - am sure due to your skills socialising beasts! @CatherinedeBourgh - pictures / cat tax please!!! I lurvve the idea of teeny pink noses poking out from mountain of purring, black fur!
