Can I have some good lucks, best wishes and some “please do a wee” for my gorgeous boy?

Up on night duty with my biggest baby. He’s obsessed with my DH who sometimes has to travel for work. DCat gets stress cystitis at being parted from DH! It’s not happened for a couple of years and I thought we’d got away with another trip as DH returned home this evening. But he’s not wee’d all day, was looking very uncomfortable and immediately went to the litter tray and started yowling when DH walker in.

We know the drill know and were straight off to the out of hours vets, who could only feel a small bladder but obviously bladder issues are a massive risk, particularly for large male cats (he’s 7kg and also has FIV). He’s allowed home for 12 hours drugged up to his eyeballs on things designed to relax him and painkillers and has taken up residence on the bathroom floor so I’ve joined him. He’s got a litter tray and me on the floor with him but if he’s doesn’t wee before 9am, it’s back to the vet for emergency interventions. We’ve never had to do that before but he’s not even trying to wee.

Instead purring his little head off on the bathmat, staring at me with googly eyes being all space cadet! I’m trying to get him to take his next dose of meds but we’re at a standoff as he’s trying to take the treat I’ve hidden it in without opening his mouth (I would blame the drugs, but he’s generally pretty daft without them!!!).

Trying to let DH get some sleep as he’s flown 11 hours home today over a massive time difference so I want to make it until at least 4am before I have to swap. Ideally my baby will wee before then though! Feeling extra guilty as DCat2 is shut downstairs which we never do as he usually cuddles in bed with us but he was bothering DCat1 so we’ve separated them for now.

Any best wishes for my big ginger baby and secret meowing telling him to wee would be much appreciated- he’s totally daft and unashamedly favours DH over me but he was my first baby, I love him to bits and hate seeing him all sad. Picture of the handsome bugger for cat tax. On Tuesday he was sat on my desk with his face in the fan like he was some diva in a music video!

He is absolutely gorgeous and I'm so glad he's come through it all. We have a chonky rescue FIV cat with bladder issues and this all sounds so familiar. He's also on cystease and some revolting specialist cat food for urinary issues which absolutely reeks. We bought a moderate calorie version so he's actually losing weight and we can see a waistline! Love him to bits although like you, DH is his favourite

well done you- you worked hard for him that is true love

I’m very pleased to see your update. Keep getting better little man 🤞😍

I think we’ve picked up a bag of the same! Hoping he likes it because last time he was on a diet he became an absolute gannet- at one point he jumped up and stole a chicken nugget literally off my fork on the way to my mouth 🙈, making him a VERY hard cat to diet 🙈

Ours loves it though it doesn't stop him begging for cheese! Actually I don't think anything could stop him begging for cheese despite a success rate of about 2%

Absolutely agree! Brave 🎃 puss, hope he keeps improving!

Oh you have all been well and truly through the mill.

Wonderful that he has come through it and fingers crossed all is plain sailing from now on.

He’s beautiful and rather reminds me of my own ginger boy who is a gentle, greedy giant and who also had UTI problems a few years ago - I really thought I was going to lose him.

What a beautiful boy, and what a rollercoaster for you and your DH!
I hope he continues to improve, and he certainly rocks that pumpkin cone!
(Edited because I called it a collar!)

Bless you, OP. I'm so glad your boy is better and it honestly restores my faith in humanity a little to hear all that you and your DH did to take care of him. Hope you have many more years with your lovely Dcat.

Thank you all for such kind words! We don’t have DC, so the day we brought him home he became our baby and made us a family really. Even DCat2 (who I adore just as fiercely and is a complete Mummy’s boy!) was only adopted because DCat1 “needed a friend” so really the world revolves around Flynn!

One more photo of his gorgeous face as he got signed off from the vet on Friday but still has to wear his pumpkin whilst the fur and skin grows back on his back end!!! I wfh on Friday’s and he usually jumps up for cuddles mid afternoon- this was his first time doing it in nearly a month!

Aw, gorgeous boy! Flynn's little pumpkin outfit suits him, but he'd probably claw me for saying so. 🤣
