Help, run out of Laxatract and vet not open until Tuesday

We live rurally and our local vet is only open twice a week. I need a prescription to get it online - does anyone know of anything similar that I can use, or as it’s just lactulose, could I give some of the human stuff? He has 1/2 teaspoon a night to keep him regular.

No idea what that drug is and I wouldn't give advice anyway. Have a google for 'veterinary hospital' - for a vet to call itself a hospital they have to have 24 hour cover 365 days a year.

It might be a bit of a trek to get the stuff and I don't know what if any transport you have got.

Failing that do you have pet insurance? Mine has a helpline where you talk to a vet nurse.

From a quick Google, it is lactulose.
I would double-check this - if it definitely is, yes you can give your cat 'human' lactulose - one of my cats has it daily and when we started her on it the vet said human lactulose was exactly the same and much cheaper.

If you do this (and I agree with pp, I would confirm with a phone call with a vet or vet nurse) don't tell the pharmacy it's for your cat as they then aren't allowed to sell it to you.
