Cat being neutered, no food past 9pm

My cat is booked in and the vet surgery said no food after 9pm, but we aren't due to drop him off until 10.40am the next day, so presume the op will be 11 at the earliest.

Is 14 hours with no food typical? I thought it was no food after midnight with my last cat and that was a 9.30am admission!

11-12 hrs before should be plenty. I also noticed that they changed the fasting requirements. We were told 930 as well but drop-off was 8-830 so you could probably give your cat a bit more leeway.

I was also stressed about this as my cat is extremely anxious about his food.

I think it depends on the age of cat too due to stomach size and how much they can hold.
My boy was 16 ish weeks and I can remember getting up in the night to feed him after I had googled and saw about tummy sizes.

Cat is 10 months is that makes a difference?!

I’m a vet. It basically means don’t give him any food tomorrow morning. Whether his last meal is at 9.30 or 11 pm tonight will not matter.

How is your cat @Shinyandnew1

Mine was no food after 10pm for a 9am drop off. I forgot and gave my cat 2 dreamies at around 10:30pm and panicked and rang vet as soon as they opened at 8:30am to check op could go ahead and they laughed (kindly) and said it was fine and even if I’d fed a meal at 10:30 they would be fine, main thing was not to give breakfast.
