My cats eat so much food!!

Up until now I have fed them wet food only. They don’t get treats either. So it’s just three packets of wet food a day, but they mither and mither for more.

One of my cats is a perfect weight, but my female cat is overweight because she eats the same as my bigger cat but she is small.
The feeding guidelines on the back do say to feed 3 packets a day to the bigger one and 2 packets to my smaller cat. But she will not accept this at all and really pesters me all day while I’m trying to work.

I recently started a cat sitting job and have found that most people feed their cats two pouches a day, with a bowl of dry food always topped up for throughout the day. I have tried this recently and my cats are eating the whole bowl in one go! They aren’t just grazing throughout the day. If I were to put even more dry food down I know they would eat that too and then they’d just be overeating and fat!

How can I make it so that my girl cat is a nice healthy weight without always pestering me for more and more food. They are both with the healthy pet club at the vets and get check ups every 6 months and flea and worming treatment for free on the plan. No issues have come up

No answers, but following with interest because I was literally going to post something similar today. My new 1 year old rescue cat is constantly yelling at me for food despite getting the recommended amount of food for her weight.

Like you, I can't leave dry food out for her to graze on as she'll just scoff the lot straight away. She's also on slow feeding for her wet food because otherwise she'll eat so fast that she ends up vomiting.

I split up the feeding across the day for mine so they get 4 feeds a day. They have Sheeba fresh and fine which comes in half pouches so they probably have 2 pouches each a day along with half a scoop of royal canin urinary friendly dry food each time and a couple of table spoons of water mixed in.

If we are out for the day and give them breakfast and lunch together in the morning, they act like they’ve been starved when we get home despite it being the same amount of food.

That normally keeps them happy, one isn’t food motivated and won’t bother coming to his food bowl if he’s comfy.

Some cats self-regulate, some don't.

If you've got one of each then the easiest option is to use microchip feeders.

We have three adult cats (all weigh between 3.5-4.5 kilos) and we feed four times a day. In total, they get a pouch of Sheba each, plus two small handfuls of dry food. They also get a few dreamies each day when they come in for the night, and some cat milk twice a day.
