I think the cat in my parents’ garden is pregnant 🄹
Not sure what to do? How do I make her comfy?

Thank you, that’s good advice! I may have to rethink then and try to get them into a shelter locally instead. My husband is very allergic to cats so I can’t take them into my house.
any idea what might have happened when the kitten disappeared@thecatneuterer?

I'm guessing the door was left open and a fox came in. Could have killed one and she took the others to safety. Although it's a bit surprising she brought them back in that case

thecatneuterer · 06/06/2025 12:10

If the shed they are in is properly secure it would be better to leave them there until you can get them to a shelter, but your parents will have to be very careful to lock the shed in the evening.

thecatneuterer · 06/06/2025 12:12

If your parents are forgetful perhaps phone them every evening to check

thecatneuterer · 06/06/2025 12:24

From experience I would estimate that 75 per cent of kittens born outside don't make it to five months. Mainly due to fox predation, although not exclusively.

That doesn't equate to 75 per cent of each litter though. Some litter seem to be lucky, or have exceptional mothers, and all survive. While many entire litters don't make it. But then it's also very common for just a couple from a litter of five or six to make it to adulthood. It's a tough life for strays and ferals (autocorrect seems determined to correct ferals to Gerald - maybe his life is tough too šŸ˜‚)

My son is there now and I’m very happy to report that my parents can’t count and all three kittens are safe and well ā˜ŗļø
I am trying to have them rescued this weekend @thecatneuterer. I’m talking to one of the places mentioned in the thread. Thank you for the support šŸ’•

Very happy that your parents can't count!

CatChant · 06/06/2025 12:59

I am also happy your parents can’t count @NotABeliever and very glad this little family has you to look out for them. Fingers crossed one of the rescues can help. Life is so tough for ferals.

That sleepy, little, tabby face is adorable.

Thank you! What a lovely cuddle puddle!

NotABeliever · 06/06/2025 15:06

Do they look ok? The black one looks a bit small doesn’t he/she?

They look fine. In fact they look particularly round and sturdy. There's always a runty one.

BunfightBetty · 06/06/2025 15:56

Aw, they’re gorgeous. I’m so glad they’re ok. Fingers crossed the rescue you’re speaking to can get them a foster home this weekend šŸ¤ž

CatChant · 06/06/2025 17:17

Oh, they are loves! One tabby, one panther and one miniature of mum. And all with their ears still buttoned down. Utterly adorable!

Pudmyboy · 12/06/2025 12:48

Just wondering if there are any updates @NotABeliever ?

NotABeliever · 13/06/2025 07:39

All three kittens and mum have been rescued by Protected Paws Animal Rescue. It was a wrench letting them go 😭 but I am so grateful and have every confidence that they’ll go on to have great lives ā˜ŗļø

Many congratulations @NotABelieveryou’ve done a wonderful thing 🌺🄰

Breadcat24 · 13/06/2025 09:25

@NotABeliever well done you

CatChant · 13/06/2025 11:43

Thanks to you @NotABeliever this little family has a brighter future, and there will be four less unneutered and unspayed cats adding more kittens to the feral cat population.

🐾I wish there were more people like you.

Datafan55 · 13/06/2025 12:21

Love this. Well done for looking out for them.

I’m so glad! I knew Protected Paws would step up, they really do go above and beyond.

Sorry you had to let them go, though you did a marvellous thing for them. Thank-you.

This makes me so happy! I've just sent a little donation to Protected Paws to help towards your lovely foundling kitties ā¤

CatChant · 14/06/2025 20:14

I have made a small donation to Protected Paws too. Thank goodness for the smaller charities who so often step up when the big ones don’t.

Whyherewego · 14/06/2025 20:32

Congratulations on finding a rescue! They are all so busy this time of year

Great job OP
