Injury on cat’s leg, should I call the emergency vet

Hello!
My cat Twix is one year old and I notice she had this cut on her leg today. I expect she got it from being in the garden (on a lead), she doesn’t seem to be acting strange but I’m worried this could get worse quite quickly.
The vet is closed this weekend, is this worth phoning the emergency line or is there maybe something I can do in the meantime for it and wait until Monday for the vet?
Thank you!

It looks clean but like may need suturing? The vets will be closed on Monday too I think - it’s a BH. Our vet opens on a Saturday morning for urgents only - yours might too?

Unfortunately not, but they do have an emergency and critical care service that’s open all night.

Ring them and see what they advise, they may tell you to call back on Monday or take him in now

ChompandaGrazia · 02/05/2025 22:46

Call the emergency line. But they can’t see it so will most likely advise you to take her in to be on the safe side.

No. It looks more like excess licking, not a cut.
It isn't an emergency.

BlotAnExpert · 02/05/2025 22:50

I would get some Leucillin to keep it clean and keep an eye on it but imagine it would be fine

TidalShore · 02/05/2025 22:51

Has it broken the skin, or just grazed the fur off?

Iloveanicegarden · 02/05/2025 22:51

Bathe it in warm salt water 3 times a day and try to keep it open to let any pus out.

LoafofSellotape · 02/05/2025 22:52

Bathe it with salt water before you decide anything.

Thank you so much everyone for the advice! I rang them and they said it may not be too serious but she can have a consult with the out of hours service, this however is quite pricey and not really an option for me so I’m hoping it is just excess licking and will keep an eye on it until the vets open on normal hours. Will look into salt water and maybe bandaging to reduce any extra damage from her licking

Does your insurance have an advice line? We can do a video call 24/7 which is really helpful as a sense check.

They do! I’ve spoken to them and they’ve suggested salt water and see how it goes for now, thank you!

She’s good thank you! Acting completely normal, just keeping a closer eye on her today and keeping her leg clean
