Supplements for arthritis in a fairly young cat?

We adopted our oldest cat when he was one - sadly he was massively overweight and even though it's now come off, he has arthritis in one of his hips because of it and is on daily Metacam. He'll be turning 9 in April and has been on medication for about 18 months or so.

I've just started him on YuMove as well as he seems to be struggling a bit (he's always worse in winter) but can anyone recommend anything else he can have as well?

Cat tax as per the rules!

Have you tried Solensia? It's a monthly injection. It's not cheap but has been a miracle drug for our 3 year old

Our cat gets Solensia injections every month. He's like a young cat again.

Turmeric supplement for cats is meant to be really good, not that mine will eat it. She doesn't hate it, just studiously ignores it. Sigh.

Librella is a monthly injection that can be given to cats, I think, and supposedly gold standard for arthritic care.

You can buy broth for cats & dogs too, which will have a good collagen content.
Get the pet specific one so you can be sure about salt content.

I'm really undecided about Solensia - think I've read too many horror stories! He's also not insured so we do have to factor cost in as well.

Before someone comes at me for the lack of insurance - he was insured until recently but the costs skyrocketed and after paying the monthly premiums plus the 20% as he's over 8, plus the excess per condition, the amount per month to cover it all was bordering on ridiculous.

We can pay for Solensia if he needs it but I was hoping for potentially supplements or oils to add to his food first. He also can't stand the vets!
