Quick update on Tobias and his poo issues (the ones that inadvertently led to his FIV diagnosis).
He's been on the Cobalaplex ()Vit B12 supplement) for over a month now and his poo is slightly improved in liquidity, in that it no longer resembles something that's come out of a cow who's just gone into a field full of fresh spring grass. It now occasionally looks like just very wet poo, he's going larger amounts with less frequency, and his farting when he goes has got much less.
Long discussion with the lovely vet yesterday, and we've agreed a short term plan and potential follow ups depending on the results. Though she is quite capable, there's a local freelance pet sonographer who is a complete expert in pet ultrasound scans, so we will get her in to scan Tobias to see if there's anything bad going on inside his gut.
At the same time we'll get another blood test to check his B12 levels. If these have gone back up to normal I'll still keep him on the current (recommended) dose, but if they've increased but not up to normal levels I'll try increasing from every other day to every day.
Long term depending on what the findings are, assuming it isn't anything a) critical/terminal and b) treatable, we'll just treat his current symptoms best we can going forwards. He's perfectly well other than the poo, sleeping about the same as Girlcat and then having his mad half hours and chasing/being chased by the boss cat like any other cat in their prime (he's about 5 we think). Coat is good, drinks & eats well, a bit overweight. He's a stressy cat at the best of times, so we see no point in stressing him even more if it isn't essential.
