My lovely 17 year old Tortie is making her way to the Rainbow Bridge this morning. It's time. We're going to miss her so much. But her back legs are going and she's tired.

Thank you all so much. She's gone now, it was very peaceful, I held her and her wee head just dropped and rested on my neck when it was done. I was able to stay with her for quite a while after too and that has really helped. DP and I are a bit tearful but we also feel a sense of relief (which sounds awful) but we were so stressed and worried about her and she's free now. We were so lucky to have her.

You did the last thing you could do with love x it was an act of pure unselfish love.

so sorry, but she was loved

A sense of relief doesn’t sound awful at all. It actually sounds perfectly natural to me, you faced up to something that you knew would be difficult , and went through it because you knew it was in your cats ( sorry, don’t know her name) best interest.

Imagine how awful it would have been if you had decided to leave it for a week and then you were faced with finding an emergency vet over Christmas, it would have been devastating, so you are right to feel relieved that you made the right choice, at the right time, for the right reasons.

She was a very lucky girl to feel loved and cuddled to the very last moment.
