Am worst cat mother ever ...not letting cat back outside into the storm

That's it really. Apparently am worst person ever. Much whinging and pathetic meowing. He's been out most of the day 🙄

I'm doing the right thing though aren't I? One look at the wind and rain and my other cat rain back inside.

Yes, apparently the weather is my fault and it has been necessary to jump on top of the boiler cupboard without planning a descent.

ladymalfoy45 · 07/12/2024 19:14

Glad it's not just me. She checked both the back and front door to make sure it was raining everywy.

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 07/12/2024 19:16

Mines very upset that I’ve not turned the storm off for him. Keeps pushing the cat flap open with his paw and looking at me sadly.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 07/12/2024 19:16

I gave in to the yowling and let him out, the wind dropped here for a bit earlier before it got dark, he was back in ten minutes and had gone back to napping on the floor outside the airing cupboard where the carpet gets warm

Notateacheranymore · 07/12/2024 19:19

We are also in trouble for this. Even worse, we have even opened the door so they can see first hand and they have turned their backs and then given ME the stinkeye for not turning off the weather.

EachandEveryone · 07/12/2024 19:21

Yes we let ours out it’s just not worth the crying and moaning. He just doesn’t seem to feel the cold and rain. He’s like clockwork out at 6am, back at 11 for early lunch then bed in the proper big bed with the doors and curtains closed, the. Dinner at 6 and out again back at 9 which is when we should keep him in but he insists on a last minute outdoor inspection. He is a little Prince and we love him.

He's an ex street cat and was apparently fine, and I'm impinging on his cat rights by making him stay in. But he's being forced against his will to be warm, snuggly and fed tit bits of cooked chicken. I'm a horrible person.

He's usually out to 9.30-10 pm, but I spent the last hour checking his tracker before he came back and I have better ways of spending my evening than worrying about him 😔 🤣

Yup, our two were forced to use the indoor loo last night… I got woken up by the (Very stupid) boy cat trying to jump through a closed window at 6am… he needed several Dreamies to offset his disgust (at me, not himself obviously).

We only have one indoor loo btw, mainly as it’s not been used in over a year by either cat (they’re 16 and 18 months old!) its large, immaculate, and they did previously use it before discovering outside facilities were far superior.

As well as being gross enough to pee indoors, I am also looked upon with disdain for my inability to wash properly and get regular demos on ‘correct’ washing while in the shower. Many Dreamies are eaten in this house, my poor babies are clearly comfort eating in their disappointment.

My boy is very upset too. I opened the door to show him the rain, he took one step out, came back in and then spent the whole day meowing at the window.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 08/12/2024 21:16

Dcat got one gust of the wind from her hiding place behind me when I opened the door to look at our missing fence panels and she went and hid under the table🤣🤣

When I went to fuss her she ran away and I’m her person normally, she really seems to blame me for the bad weather🫣🤣

She hasn’t been out now for 2 days, she is a self imposed indoor cat!

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 08/12/2024 21:21

I’m a dreadful cat parent too. I haven’t stopped the rain at all.

Mumofacertainage · 11/12/2024 23:02

My Ernie was an allotment cat,he is very black. I won’t let him out in the dark or wet due to cars and fighting. He is silent though . Just gives me the look, then huffs off fo a long long sleep

Our boy went out in the storm and came back with tiny raindrops in his fur , as my DD calls it "he's covered in diamonds"

Female is far far too sensible to go out in the rain ....but if they don't then we don't get the cute little wet pawprints on the floor

That’s much nicer than my DP, when our cat comes in wet DP says he’s a toilet brush

FloofPaws · 22/12/2024 16:30

Mine get the hump if I dont allow indoor viewing with the back door open for all the benefits of the bad weather from a dry doorway. I've taken to putting the car trees by the bifold for better viewing, and scattering said cat trees with cat nip - I now have sky high cats loafing on the Hammock / platforms playing bat my brother games 🤪

Mumofacertainage · 30/12/2024 20:20

Ernie’s latest. Will not eat Turkey in his bowl , but will sit begging in the dining room, giving me the look, then from my plate Turkey is wonderful and keeps coming back for more. Same Turkey, very expensive bronze fresh farm thing that cost a fortune. But totally unacceptable in the kitchen in a cat bowl.
This is a cat who lived on allotments for two years until I adopted him last Xmas. Now he is a prince
