Hi fellow feline fanciers.
Please help me! I have a very fussy cat who is currently eating a mix of Purina One pouches, Sheba pouches, Gourmet red pouches and with dry food (Whiskas) out all the time. She also get the occasional blob of tuna in spring water, and if we are having a roast she gets bits of that.
She prefers fish- he all time most favourite thing to eat is a bit of fish from the chippy extracted from the batter (no salt and vinegar)
She is 15 and a moody tortie.
She was a stray we took in and used to eat anything but is now picky.
She has a habit of waking me up at 5am for breakfast - I am trying to edge this to later on. But for the last 2 nights as she had left over roast chicken she has let me sleep in to 6.30.
This made me think she needs more protein.
She did once eat Harringtons but rejected it when I bought a multipack. She would not touch Applaws
I looked a grain free on Amazon and pets at home and it is expensive. However I think that maybe if she ate that she would need less pouches overall (currently eats or rejects 4 a day)
I have ordered some scumbles biscuits to try.
What can I try to feed her please? I will have to buy it a couple of pouches at time to try to convince to make a change.

Aldi do a dupe of Felix As Good As It Looks, 50ish pouches for £10. Beautiful cat! I have 2. Somedays they'll eat most things, other days they'd rather starve 🤣

Regalrosie · 03/12/2024 11:50

Omg she’s so gorgeous! 🤩

Deathraystare · 03/12/2024 11:56

How typical of the cat! Bet she wasn't so fussy when she was stray!!

Breadcat24 · 03/12/2024 12:04

She was called breadcat because she ate bread that we put out for the birds. Bit more "John West No Drain Spring Water Cat" now.
She sends you a judgemental look at your comment!

If you look on zooplus, you can buy the smaller sample packs of various brand dry(150-400g). And some wet you can order just 1-4 tins

Brands to try:
purizon and wild freedom
Miamor do a wet flake type fish also

Ooh hang on, I gave someone some pouches the other day that are grain free
Side note I recommend a timed feeder

Danikm151 · 03/12/2024 12:13

Aldi select is grain free
24 sachets for £6.59
it’s all my cat will touch 🤣

Breadcat24 · 03/12/2024 12:16

Thank you!
Will the timed feeder also stop her coming to tell me that she is back in if she goes out at night?

My fussy two like Nature's Variety dry food it is currently on deal at Pets at Home for the chicken one. They have a salmon one too, reduced currently on Amazon.

I can't work miracles Grin
Mine did wake me up to tell me his feeder hadn't gone off and could I fix it
His goes off at 3am which stops him pestering

We’re using Feringa - you can get it on Zooplus. I felt it was a pretty good trade off between price and quality. The cats are happy enough with it so far.
