My cat just meowed really differently to how I’ve ever heard him meow before

When I went to see what he wanted, he ran down the hall (he was sitting on the front door mat), into the kitchen and puked on the floor. Is this a thing they do? Get your attention to go and watch them vomit?

Before cats puke they usually make a weird howling/mewing noise. They sound distressed. But tbh that moment when I'm about to puke I feel quite distressed so I can't blame them. They are generally ok straight afterwards and it's like nothing has happened!

One of mine does that noise and then runs to the nearest carpeted area to chuck up 🙄She's generally a pretty vocal Tortie though

The late Cheddar was the biggest drama queen ever when she was sick. At least I had plenty of warning though!

My old cat literally was wailing in our home one day, I think he didn't know where we were lol 😂
They can look or meow differently if unwell so maybe keep an eye on them
