Sad cat after intruder in the house :(

We were woken up in the night a few days ago by a terrific yowling and fight-another cat had got in through the cat flap and our lovely 2y old boy cat had a scrap with the intruder. We went down and he seemed fine-the other cat had gone and ours had no obvious injuries.

Since then though, he’s seemed ready sad and has not wanted to play with our kitten (who he loved), not purring and has hid himself upstairs on a bed. He’s still eating and going outside but doesn’t seem himself. We took him to the vet the day after (was going anyway for jabs) who gave him a once over and said he couldn’t see any wounds. Could he be bruised and feeling a bit sore and will be ok in a few days? Presumably shaken after what happened?

Is there anything else we can do? Looking at microchip cat flaps now.

We had a random cat that kept coming through the cat flap at night. Our boy was really stressed and started pulling his fur out. We got a cat flap that scans his chip. He has been fine since then. I think it just stresses them out having a cat come right into their space.
