Persian Cat - Advice on vacuum cleaner for fur removal from carpet and clipper for grooming,

Hello Everyone,

Could anyone, please recommend an affordable, high-quality vacuum cleaner that's effective at removing Persian kitten fur from carpets?

Additionally, what's the most suitable trimmer or clipper for grooming my cat's hair?

Advice on both, pls i.e. vacuum cleaner and clipper, please also share experience if you tried it, personally. Ideally with brand name and retail store to buy. (Online or offline)

Many Thanks

Hi @Metaphor - we're just moving your thread to our Litter Tray topic - hopefully some fellow cat owners will be along shortly with some suggestions.

They'll definitely want you to add a pic or two, though - you can't mention Persian kittens and then not post a photo! Smile

I have a persian and have never needed to use clippers. Buy a decent metal comb (greyhound combs are good) and get them used to it from a young age.

I have a Dyson cordless, but had to have a fat brush bar. As the Pet one I had couldn't cope with long hair.🙄 I do have a set of clippers as my recent Persians were less tolerant of having knots brushed out. And having cut one once, I don't like taking the risk with scissors, though I will use thinning scissors. I use a metal come and a tangle teaser.

I found long hair easier to deal
With as it doesn't stick in the same way as short hair. My long black Persians, could sit on my knee, when wearing white trousers without issue. Get a professional groom
Every few months. And keep the bum
And trousers very short!

I have two cats and have tried many different vacuums which all are great when they are brand new but after awhile they lose suction and the hair clogs them but what I've found is of if I use something like this first any vacuum will do the job.

Must have metal on it - I've used a rubber broom and it's not as good.

I’ve never clipped any of ours and we’ve had 5 over the years. Cat skin tears easily so a small nick can open up.

daily brushing works, it’s a pain but it does help.
