My lovely kitten has a lump and I'm really worried.

My little kitten is 4 months old. She is very little and skinny. I could feel a lump between her shoulder blades but when I researched it it said it could be her microchip and it seemed to dissapear. She had her next jab and the nurse checked her all over. On Friday I could feel it again as I was fussing her. On Saturday she was playing with our other cats and then I saw this. It seems to get bigger and smaller and I think she has knocked it a few times and it's bled a bit. She's her normal happy lovely self.
I'm really scared they're going to say it's cancer.
It's really difficult to get a photo I hope these are ok

Hi
My kitten had exactly that after her jabs. My vet said it's very common afterwards and it would resolve on its own which it did. Try not to worry.

delilabell · 04/11/2024 14:05

Did they really? And it went down by itself? I really hope it is. Thank you so much for replying

It is very common after jabs and microchips. It should disappear in a week or so. If it doesn't, go back to your vet.

It's incredibly unlikely to be cancer at four months old. Far far more likely to be a little scratch from playing or a reaction to the jabs. Keep an eye on it and take your kitten back if it doesn't resolve but I wouldn't be worrying and my kitten's lump disappeared after a week.

Thank you both. It's a weight lifted from my shoulders hearing from you both. I'll give it a week and see what happens.

One of mine sometimes gets this after her jabs, it goes down over a few weeks. I panicked the first time too.

I had exactly that on my girl. She was about a year and had her jabs. There was a lump under her skin. I took her back to the vets and they said it was fine, just the result of the jabs. It went down after a couple of days.

Mine had something similar as well as a fat lip after his vaccinations, email a picture to the vet to put your mind at ease :) She's so cute I love black cats!

My kitten had this exact thing as well as a swollen bottom lip after her first jabs and microchip. I emailed pics to the vet and they said it’s very common and to just monitor it and book an appointment if it’s still the same in 2 weeks. It was all resolved within 10 days, however she got it again with her second jabs, and again it disappeared within 10 days.

Oh yes, the fat bottom lip, ours gets that too sometimes, but she has a flea allergy so I had put it down to that, I think she is just an allergicky cat.

Just to update it went down like you all suggested . Thank you for your help ! ❤️❤️
