Has anyone with just a normal garden (rather than a farm) adopted feral cats

I would like to offer a safe space to a couple of feral cats. This would be a shed in my garden with bedding. They would be fed and watered with no expectation that they would offer anything in return.

No children. Experienced cat person.

Would this set up be suitable? Would sanctuaries let their feral cats come to such a home?

Most feral cats come from rural colonies and are used to having roaming space.

Typical residential areas are not suitable environments as they won't be used to regular footfall, traffic and general people noise which is all very distressing to them.

If your garden is fairly contained and not near busy roads or in a noisy neighbourhood, Do you have the space in your garden for a pen, or a dedicated spare room, and commitment, to become a fosterer? Temporary fosterer care for women who have had to leave their homes due to DA and can't take their cats is a service offered and greatly struggling due to lack of temporary available care.

Just be aware that if you have neighbours with cats, the feral cats may well fight them constantly. Our Dfriends had this and they ended up having to 'strongly request' that their neighbour's ex feral cat was rehomed, after approx £600 of vet bills and also damage in their home after the feral ruined inside their house too (broke the cat flap to get in and attack their cats).

Talk to whichever of your local rescues work with ferals. The RSPCA centre where I got my semi-feral girl often has ferals who need that sort of set-up but with a proviso that they may want to move into the house one day.
