Vet this morning-fear the worst

Writing this in floods. I am calling the vet as soon as they open this morning but I think my girl is on her last legs.

She has been off of her food a bit but then happily stole some roast chicken off of my plate and so we have been tempting her with forbidden foods.
This week she is eating very little and her little bones sticking out.
(she always has been a very big cat)

She is still curling up with me and purring but this morning she came in from outside and went to get in her bed and her legs sort of buckled and she staggered in.

She is not that old-13 but has had acute kidney failure twice and miraculously survived.

I've been where you are too many times. All I think is that when it's my time to go, I can't think of a better way than slipping into sleep and leaving the pain behind me, with my loved ones there. It's the last thing we can do for our beloved pets. ❤️

The worst one of mine was during lockdown when we handed our old girl over in the carrier in the car park and then just got the empty carrier back when the vet had finished. It was hard not to be with her.

It was the right thing to do. My old girl was sprightly and fine, then suddenly had issues breathing. We hesitated to act too long and then couldnt find an out of hours vet to have her put down (live in the middle of nowhere). I feel immense guilt that her last 24 hours were rough. I miss her lots, it was all so sudden and a shock. Then 7 days later had to have our dog put to sleep. Tough times. Much love to all who will miss your cat x

Aww so sorry for your loss. Lovely photos, the one with the stolen toys makes her look like she's got sooo many legs - an octopusscat. She looks happy with her stolen stash!
I hope you have lots of happy memories of your lovely girl.

I am so sorry. I've only just seen this and was hoping for a miracle as I read. What a beautiful cat you had. I hope you can take comfort in that you did the right thing at the right time.

My late cat was kept too long by the vet. The cat we lost in May had a better vet and while it was awful for the kids to say goodbye on FaceTime, it was a comfort to me we were kind of together.
