I'm so scared I might have just gave my baby caffeine!

I keep playing at back over and over- I don't think he touched it. I don't think he did. I'm so stupid. I hate myself. Is he going to be ok ? Should I take him to the vet ? He opens at 9 I think, and I don't think he will take a charge till I can pay.

I'm terrified, but I don't think he touched it before I snatched it away. I don't think he did. I hope so.

And thinking too, I never would have thought it was toxic, with the way he's always trying to put his face in my coffee cup. Like, shouldn't he sense it's toxic to him ?

My little baby, I couldn't cope if anything ever happened to him.

He would vomit it up, wouldn't he ?

He will be fine

4and20blackbirds · 11/10/2024 04:21

I'm confused, he sniffed it, or actually lapped some up?
Either way he'll be fine, he'd have to have drunk quite for lot to cause problems.

4and20blackbirds · 11/10/2024 04:23

... also, caffeine at 4am?

Yeah, I've been googling, he would need to have had quite a few gulps of it. I thought maybe he licked it off a biscuit. I wanted to give him a piece of a biscuit for a treat, but he chokes on (cat) biscuits. So I dipped it in and put it on the floor for him. Grabbed it back up within 45 seconds

My cat loves coffee! Don’t worry yours will be completely fine. They have to have loads before it’s a problem

coffeesaveslives · 11/10/2024 07:03

Mine drinks coffee off the spoon most days! Honestly, he'll be fine. Cats are surprisingly hardy.

whirlyhead · 11/10/2024 15:00

One of mine drinks my coffee! I’ve never thought of it as being bad for them.

i gave the same idiot one of my beta blockers once by mistake. It had no effect on him whatsoever.

Mxflamingnoravera · 11/10/2024 15:03

Mine used to drink tea from my cup by dipping his paw and licking it off. He was a very old boy when he finally went to dreamieland the caffeine never hurt him.
I'm sure your cat will encounter worse if he goes outside, they are very resilient.

BobbyBiscuits · 11/10/2024 15:06

Cats drink water from filthy puddles by choice, they munch on birds and mice if given half the chance. I don't think lapping up a tiny bit of coffee will do any harm whatsoever. It's not a poison. Please stop worrying.

Mine has eaten half a bath bomb, a whole portion of cooked chilli con carne that was cooling on the side, dozens of spiders, a pair of foam earplugs (I didn’t know until he shat them out!), a cotton bud, a metal dog food tray that he got out the bin, a whole week’s worth of antibiotics that his sister was prescribed when she cut her paw (packaging and all), nibbled round the edges of three silicone placemats and a dead bird he found crawling with maggots. Won’t touch some brands of dry food, though Hmm

Tiny bit of coffee on a biscuit will be fine!

Mine's ate a piece of rubber. I checked the litter tray for a week and couldn't see anything. He had a scan done and the wet couldn't see anything but said it can be hard to because gas bubbles in the stomach interfere with the scan. It's a bit worrying because he vomits a lot and I wonder if that's why
