Brought this little lady home almost two weeks ago (she belonged to my colleague and friend of 22 years, who died suddenly). She has really taken to me and comes to sit on my lap every evening. I'm delighted - have been a cat owner for nearly 25 years and this is the first time I've ever had a lap cat!

I don't want to disturb her!

I know how you feel, this is my life too! My little girl runs in the room as soon as she hears the sofa creak as I sit on it, she can’t wait to curl up and sleep on me 🥰

I feel like it's a real honour! Especially as I wasn't expecting her to be a lap cat. She's absolutely fast asleep and I'm still here!

Have never had an all-black cat before. They're quite difficult to photograph aren't they?!

Since my other cat was rehomed last week. Penelope has become my shadow. She's forgotten the concept of personal space. It's lovely to see her happy again after being absolutely terrified of Paddington.

I feel your pain, although a DC doing forgotten, but due tomorrow homework is the bigger issue.

Aww my now departed black cat was the most cuddly cat I've ever had the pleasure of being owned by. I was never cat trapped by him though because 10pm on the dot he removed himself from my knee and demanded we go to bed so he could sleep tucked under my chin all night.

My boy isn't a lap cat but he's taken to snoozing with his head in my hand, so I am currently stuck leaning at a 45 degree while my back seizes up and my arm goes dead. I'm not moving though, naturally.

Can't possibly get up when you are incapussytated.

Though no doubt she will follow you up and spoon you in bed.

Or sit on you. And then you won't be able to turn over because you will, again, be incapussytated.

There's no hope! You have to stay in that position now until she decides she wants to go out - usually at 3am.

One of my cats trained me not to move at all in bed ALL NIGHT while he slept in the bended crook of my legs.

And I never moved an inch! ......

he trained me well :)

At this point my DD usually rescues me as she has no shame in plucking a sleeping cat off my lap. They don't seem to hold any grudges as they then get treats before bedtime..

Here are my two - our rambunctious and extroverted one who hops up onto your lap/shoulder/foot whenever she feels like it (and demands cuddles); and sweet and shy little one, who is more nervous and will only be a lap cat on her terms,

YES I find my black cat so tricky to photograph, her features just disappear and she looks like a shadow 🤣🤣

My late little love Pud occasionally fell asleep in my hand, I was in a state of ecstatic cramp till he woke!

My black cat has a special meow which means "For heaven's sake, stop rushing around and sit down so I can go to sleep on your lap."

This is my current situation.

Trapped by my poor coned cat, who miraculously still likes me despite the fact I made him wear this horrible thing and keep applying antiseptic cream to his leg. He's such a darling.

I suffer from insomnia because of my gorgeous fluffy boy cat. As soon as I get into bed he climbs on top of me, snuggles in and falls asleep....It's so adorable. It's always the loveliest time of my day. But then I need to move into a more comfortable position for me to fall asleep, however I can't bear to disturb him! So I'm awake while he sleeps soundly. I wouldn't change it for the world

My grandmother had a rule. If a cat was in your lap then it couldn't be disturbed. We all encouraged them to come for a rest around washing up time as it was a legitimate excuse.
Didn't seem to stop bedtime though

Aww my first cat was all black. She was the most loving amazing cat I will ever be ruled by. She was pts 7 years ago and still shed a tear for her and miss her even now. We now have another rescue cat. she is much loved and a total princess, she is not as much of a lap cat, but shes learning to appreciate cuddles.
