New house - what to do about cats at door?

We’ve got French doors and cats keep appearing at the door and several have come in the open door and eaten my cats food which is right next to the door!
This morning a cat came in, my cat just sort of puffed up and hissed at it but she didn’t go to fight with it. Now this cat won’t leave the door and I don’t know whether to leave the door open to basically encourage my cat to go and establish territory, or to just keep her inside whilst this cat is sitting there!

My neighbour's cat appeared in my kitchen when I bought my house last year and I was doing renovations. He kept coming every day.

Then I got my own cat and the neighbour's cat started climbing on my roof to watch her through the window (I was keeping her inside while she was getting used to the house).

Thankfully they became friends and I gave up on trying to shoo the cat away!

He considers my house and garden to be his second home and gets inside everyday.

So no advice to give...The cat got the best of me :).

Thankfully he is the only cat that visits.

A handsome ginger and white boy with almond shaped eyes cried at our cat flap when we moved in. He wanted to be friends with 4 cats. We didn't encourage him
20 years later.......
Anyway, John Henry is now buried at the bottom of my garden with his favourite of his gals.
It's hard to stop them.

I’m not sure this cat wants to be friends with my cat though, as there was hissing going on!
