How do you make peace with knowing your cat will die one day

I will sound crazy, my cat is only 2 but lately I've been feeling sad knowing he will die one day (hopefully when he has reached a good age). I know that's ridiculous as he's young and there's no point living life like that, and of course I always knew death is a part of pet ownership.

I think I would have to get another cat quickly as a distraction but that would probably make me feel guilty!

I’ve worried about my precious love since he was tiny and he’s been unwell for a while now so I try to enjoy every minute with him.
I guess it’s just part of loving something so much

I don't even think about it.
Cats live in the present - I try to follow their example.
I'm getting on but I also refuse to accept that I'm well over half way through my life 🤣.

I think it’s normal to sometimes think like that, be it about a pet or human loved one. Try to put it out of your mind when you think about it because worrying won’t change a thing as you know. Instead, every time the thought creeps in, replace it with the positive thought that you are lucky to have him today and he’s lucky to have you. Your love and care towards him is much more than most animals in the world ever experience.
I have always got another rescue cat after losing one because I reason, should I leave another little soul in the rescue just because I can’t go through this again? The answer is no I can’t. They are never a replacement because they’re all so unique with their own little quirks/likes/dislikes, but it’s another little personality to get to know and another life to try and make better….💕

I think because it's inevitable that they just don't line long enough. I know it will come. Happened 3 times now. But was always the right time, and very peaceful. Having to return one of my cats to the rescue because other cats isn't coping, and I'm finding this far harder than having the others PTS. That was final
And they knew they were loved till the end
