Do cats need more food in winter?

Our rapidly growing kitten eats a lot!
I put a pouch down a day and dry food but he is constantly looking for our food scraps too, I quite often end up giving him an extra pouch.
Older cat has always been happy on the same diet but the last few days has been looking (although this could be because kitten will happily eat her food too)
do they need to bulk up for winter? How much do you feed your cats per day? Both are currently a healthy looking weight

My cats do eat more in winter but only because their in more. My cats also eat out a lot and I'm not sure how much. Theirs always dry down and who ever is in has wet in morning, then at dinner time they can have another pouch. I also cook for them and they have chicken booth when we have chicken.

My cat will eat up to four pouches a day. Refuses dry food.

How old is the kitten? When I got mine at 3 months old I was advised to let him eat as much as he likes at each meal. They grow at an insane rate! I would feed a high quality wet food and never give dry - it’s just crisps for cats, it’s garbage.

That's really not true about dry food being garbage! A good quality grain-free dry such as Thrive for example can be 90% chicken.

Ok sounds like I’m not over feeding and they’re just a bit hungrier than usual, will put more food down and see how they go.
kitten is approx 6 months old now but has grown a lot thr last few weeks.
They both have lots of food scraps too, most days I cook up the fatty bits of chicken I’ve cut off breast of chicken , give them a bit of tuna or sardines if Ive opened any for our dinner etc

At six months kittens should be eating much more than what you describe - we basically feed on demand (which works out to about 4-5 meals a day) until they're one.

I'd say one pouch plus dry is nowhere near enough, sorry!

Our cat had 4.5 pouches a day as a kitten.

Current cat is eating more despite being indoor only.

thank you, will put more food down, feel bad for not putting enough down but will work on it!

Don't feel bad, it's hard to know the difference between genuine hunger and a cat that's chancing its luck 😂
