Prescription for Thyronorm to buy online

Hi all,

For the first time ever I'm going to buy my cat's meds online because the cost of buying them at the vet is just astronomical. A bit of searching on here has shown me that Thyronorm comes in 30ml and 100ml. I've only had 30ml before but would like to get 100ml this time.

Can anyone recommend a good online retailer? Google seems to suggest that it's in the region of 100% cheaper buying online. If it was just a bit of a difference I wouldn't bother. I'm looking at weldricks.co.uk as they seem to have good reviews on Trustpilot.

The vet is going to charge me about £24 for the prescription itself, which seems nuts! If I start buying it online will I need a new prescription every time or just the first time, to prove Thyronorm has been prescribed?

Any advice most welcome.

To add: I've just rung the online people and they've told me that they'll need a new prescription every time unless my vet writes on the prescription that it can be repeated e.g. 100ml Thronorm, which can be repeated twice.

Is this others' experience? (Again, I've never bought online meds for my pets before.)

I used to buy this online for my cat. Yea the vet can write the amount of times you can use the prescription. It depends how often they need to see the animal as to how many times they will allow for repeats. It's very straightforward and easy!

Hi. I pay similar for the vet's prescription but they prescribe for 2 x 100 ml bottles.

I use Animed or Pet Meds Online depending on which is cheapest at the time.

Thanks both.

Yes, get your vet to write on the prescription that it can be used for x number of repeats- mine gives me enough for 6 months at a time.

Then Google for comparison of costs but usually Animed or Pet Drugs Online, and mostly you will pay the same for 100ml as 30ml would cost at the vet so it is a big saving

I use Animed for my girls meds.

I had a repeat prescription from the vet.

I use Animed, can pay for next day ( i think) i use free delivery which takes about 3 days depending when you order, i asked vet to prescribe
3 x 100ml bottles at a time which they do.
Prescription £24, Meds are approx £48 per 100ml bottles.
Compared to 30ml from vet which was something like £60 or over.
Animed have great customer service via email or phone in my experience. You can log on and see progress of your order.

Used pet drugs online. I paid £21 for a vet prescription but can actually get 3 100ml bottles from that prescription if I order the last one slightly in advance. So net cost about £19 a month. Not sure if meds have gone up slightly as I last ordered last year.
